Default 4 channel rear in my 3 channel car

I found what seems to be a good deal for a 3.42 rear. I want to take my 2.73 rear out and put this other rear in. The only problem is that it is a 4 series carrier and my stock one is a 3 series. I saw the sticky about converting a four to a three, but I do not want to remove the differential assembly, and I do not have access to a mill like the guy in the thread did (the sticky requires both of these be done). Can I just put the traction control hardware in my car since the rear would already be equipped for it, or is this too much work for me to put a used rear in my car. Please advise.

do you mean 4 channel rear in a 3 channel car? Carrier series are another issue and stock carriers only came in 2 and 3 series

Ahhh sorry man, thats what I meant. Carriers, channels, all very similar words. But yea, I want to know if theres an easier way to do it than what the sticky says.
