Shift extension question
The reason I want to do this is because the car pulls like mad between 5500 and 5900 with a real sweet spot at 5700. I can feel it drop off quickly when it hits 5900. I currently have the shift points set at -1mph on the 1-2 shift and -4mph on the 2-3 shift with the rev limiter set at 6400. I have them set this low because I was hitting the rev limiter.
Thanks
John
But just to be sure I will lower the shift points and see how much it changes. If I can lower the extensions by a few hundred RPM then I will be happy. And maybe a 1/10 faster! <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
Thanks
John
I'm not saying that lowering your shift points won't work; but higher shift points let the gears multiply torque. The 1-2 shift has a big gear drop. If you have headers and a good exhaust, I'd experiment with a 6200 shift point too, even if it doesn't pass your SOTP test.
