The best thing i can say is do a search. It seems like most peoples opinion on here is that it depends how bad you want the rear whine. Some people say the Richmond gears are stronger but whine like crazy. I have Motive 4.10 in my car and I'm very happy with them. You can barely hear a whine from the rear. Since you in MD you should talk to Jason at F-body Central. His number is 410-551-9172. He installed my gears for ~ 200.00. I ordered the installation kit from Thunder Racing with T/A cover. If you haven't done your shifter yet while your car is up in the air having the gears done that would be a great time to change that as well. Jason can put the shifter in from underneath without removing your console so you get less squeeks and rattles when you are done.

Does anyone have any opinions on the GM Superior 4.10 gears?

Default Strongest 10 bolt gears

To compensate for my lightweight flywheel I'm going to put in some 4.10:1 gears. What brand has the strongest? Someone is selling the SLP gears in the FS section for a very reasonable price, but I don't want something that's going to break on me (don't worry, 12 bolt is on my list, but 2 grand doesn't just grow on trees).

I believe Motive makes the gears for GM so they are one in the same. I think I saw that disclaimer on SLP's website. Something to the affect of if they were out of GM gears they would subsitute the Motive gears for them.

Doesn't Motive make a GM type OEM and they also make a performance/competition gear?

I've used Richmond in all of my applications, and I think whoever complains about the whine, is FOS!!! I couldn't hear anything over my exhaust, unless I pushed the clutch in, turned off the radio, and turned the A/C off!!! Even if they did whine... so what?!? Are you building a car to drive around inside a church, or are you building a performance oriented vehicle???

I think its all in the installation.

The strongest 10 bolt gears I would have to say 273's which is a Hwy gear but the gear set itself is actually thicker compared to the 410's side by side...

It gets really confusing here but there are 3 different advertised "genuine GM" gears on the market: Motive GM's, Superior GM's, and GM gears from your local GM Parts Counter/Dealership.

Motive and Superior GM's are supposed to be manufactured to the same specs as GM uses but there is no other relation aside from that. In fact, I have heard that for years GM has been trying to sue aftermarket companies for advertising that their gears are GM gears... But Motive still today advertises in this manner and Superior seems to have changed their catloges to just read "OE" but many still call them Superior Genuine GM's.

GM gears are supposed to be made by a company (I can't think of it's name right now) but they do not sell gears to the general public... Only to Auto manufacturers (that's why I can't think of the name.)

GM gears are supposed to be the quietest and one of the strongest. Richmonds are supposed to be the only stronger brand out there but most people don't like all of the noise with them.

Now to make things even more complicated. I compared my set of OE Superior 3.73's with a set of real GM 3.73's that came from GM. They were absolutely identical, all of the numbers, hash marks, and every identifying mark was identical . Then I compared those gears to a set from SLP and they were also the same . All 3 sets looked like they had to be manufactured in the same place. But, these numbers and marks were different on the Motive GM's and of course, a set of Richmonds I ran across.

Hope this helps.
(It doesn't for me.)

I talked to the guys at Drive Train specialties which is a local place for me and they told me the strongest and best they have used are U.S. gears. I think they used to be affiliated with some other company but are on their own now.
But the was the name I saw on the box was U.S. Gear.
