2:73 to 3:73 I have a 95 Z-28
A4
Now I have 2:73's and I want to go to 3:73.
My car has 122,000
What gears are best
and what do I all need to do the gear swap?
And what is the cheapest way to change the gear ratio?
By hyper tech? Diablo? Just send in to PCM for less? I have headers,GMMG, CAI..

Gear swap Well first off - you have a 2 series carrier with the 2.73 gears. So you will either need a 3 seires carrier or a 2 series 3.73 gear. If your bearings are good about all else you will need is maybe some shims for the new gear set. pinion and carrier. The likely hood the new gears set will be exactly in the same pinion depth and side shimming ... is slim to none chance. A dial indicater if you can borrow will make life easier on the backlash settings which is a must to keep in the .005-.009 range. Time and patients will also be another must.

He newbie here, I kinda have the same question I have 2.73 gears in my 2002 Z28 and wanted to go to 3.73. I am going to have them professionally installed and would like to save some money on purchasing the parts what exactly would I need to get and where oh yeah and about how much am I looking at?
I bought used Richmond's, man do they whine! I bought them w/ a Master install kit for $100.00 on a forum, so I'd look there 1st. Usually a set of gears and kit is double that...

you will need 3.73 gear set and some kind of install kit hat will include shims...gaskets.seals...etc etc i would go with 3.73s trust me you will think your driving a different car going from 2.73 to 3.73....you will be able to break the tires loose at will with that upgrade
