Torsen shot, recommendations on replacement diffs?
Eyewitness reports from beside the burnout box state that only one wheel is spinning properly during burnouts. Any suggestions on a good replacement differential? Should I stick with another Torsen? Or should I get an Auburn? Or is there a better (more heavy-duty) alternative?Any suggestions and/or insight on what I should do would be appreciated

Thanks in Advance

Does it do it on normal driving on the street when you punch it?
BTW...I split my Torsen housing in half...got another Takoff usit from SLP for $99 and its held up to many 10 second passes since.
ProStock John advised to me that it might be just low fluid in the differential. I am going to check on that tomorrow, I hope that is the case.
Up until I was told about my burnouts, I didn't notice anything wrong with how the car launched on the street. Of course, I rarely, if ever, launch on the street as hard as I try to do at the track. Still, even during "spirited" launches on the street, the car never gave me the impression that anything was wrong - it always tracked staright ahead and hard.
Anyway, I hope I don't have a problem - I'll likely have it checked out by professionals just to make sure. If I do need a new diff, I think I'll go with a Torsen again

Thanks everybody for all the feedback
I'll post what I find out tomorrow (gotta find a place to "test" it again without getting a ticket

right tire enough to spin it, and the difference
between static & sliding friction is more than
2:1, you only spin one wheel. That's totally
normal.
Torsen T-2R has both a higher available split
ratio (like 3:1) and preload springs (so you get
a built-in bias, and the sticking wheel gets 3X
spinning wheel torque, plus friction bias, instead
of 2X.
Torsen is best for non-straight-line driving by
far. T-2R will compromise this at the limits,
give you cornering wheelspin earlier (but on
the lighter-loaded inside wheel, where others
may tend to spin the outside, critical wheel).
T-2R is not easy to find but worth looking for,
I think I've seen pricing like $399 or so which
is not out of line with other chunks.
I wish I knew if a regular T-2 could be after-
modded to alter torque split and add preload.
I checked the fluid level in the differential today and it was WAY LOW!
I couldn't get the last 1/4 of the bottle in there because there was no room under the car to tip the bottle properly to empty it into the diff. I bought another bottle and will fill the diff up to it's proper level tomorrow at work.I have no idea where the oil went. There is no signs of a leak in my parking space. The only thing I can think of is that when I had my rear end girdle put on (like a year ago), initially there was a leak from a loose drain plug. I had it fixed, but I assumed that the differential was refilled afterwards.....

Anyway, I am sure the low oil level was at least partially responsible for the "wierd" burnouts. I just hope I didn't damage anything in there by driving around with very little oil in my differential for so long....
I guess I'll have to "test" it again sooner or later - I couldn't do it today. There were way too many cops everywhere on the northshore for me to be doing any burnouts or launching really hard from a stop light or something.
Thanks again everyone for the great feedback. I'll post what I find when I get a chance to test it out again.
