Default Intalling TC and Headers next week.....

Need all the info that I can gather.... I will be using JMX how to page as one of my references. Here is a list of parts that I already have:

Vig 3600
B&M trans cooler (24000)
New filter and gasket for trans

JetHot LT's w/ out emissions
Emission tube block off plate

what else will I need? How many qts of trans fluid? And anything else you can add would be great!

I had that converter... tranny died in a week. Good luck.

Use Red Line tranny oil - about 5 quarts. buy 7 just in case.

You are missing a huge component in the tranny performance upgrade - the shift kit. Get one from TCI.

The 2-3 and 3-4 clutches were gone, so were some bands.

I have no idea why. My converter is still pink which means it didn't die (hopefully). But I have no idea why it just gave out like thay. Make sure the installer prefills the converter with fluid before installing it.

Oh and i did go through the proper breakin and everything. All my friends are runnin 3200, 3600 stalls and they're doing fine. Maybe my tranny was a lemon?

One more thing I can suggest is working on your intake and exhaust mods. THe converter LOVES to stay at high RPMs. After a shift, it would flash to 4800. So you need to have good air flowing into the engine so it doesn't choke. HIGHLY unlikely it will happen, but it is possible.

don't freak out because this poor guy (sorry to hear that BigBlackZ28) had problems. I had a Vig3200 in my car for 6 months and have had this 3600 in there for 6 months also, so in a year of using a converter I have not had any problems...and I do not have a shift kit...that is more of a preference thing to me. As long as you have a trans cooler and the install goes great then you shouldn't have any problems, just keep an eye on the tranny fluid a lot for the first couple of days so you don't run low.

BigBlackZ28: I can't see that the converter itself caused the problem...your car is newer than mine. Who did the install? That is just so weird to me

I agree with Camaro Cains advice.

I would (and do) use regular dextron III oil. Better to use dino and change it more often. In fact, if you are on factory tranny fluid and filter, I'd change them while doing the the TC install.

Some headers need O2 extensions, I don't know if jet hots do. If you are not running cats, you need O2 simms (or LS1Edit).

I had the install done by a friend... he's great with cars but I won't be taking my Camaro to him no more.

I will either be having it installed by Andy's Auto or a reputable transmission shop.

For the first few days, man the converter rocked!!

I think I was just low on tranny fluid (didn't check it often) and the tranny just died.

No clue... but it is going in again in a few weeks.

I have nothing to offer but a testament to this convertor.
This thing hits the tires very hard on the launch,be prepared to buy tires (alot).
I run 315/35/17 Nittos, and have yet to get a good 60 ft time due to driver error.
Good luck.
