Question rear info

Ok i bought a rear off a fellow member. How do i find info on the rear? I know it has 342 gears and it is a four channel. He said it was out of a 2002 m6 z28. What type of posi unit did they use in 2002. how can i find out what size carrier it is? I would like to order a diff cover are all 10 bolts the same size? What is the best fluid to put back in the rear?

Should be a 3 series carrier w/torsen - diff covers are the same size. What are you wanting to do? If your car has traction control too just swap the entire rear into yours - plug and play (except for the speedo setting).

I wanted to put the cover on with the support for the bearing caps. I am not going to run synthetic this time. So far it is going to be a plug and play.

With the torsen you should run synthetic, and the LSD additive according to my owners manual.

Noone answered this so.. axles ARE the same. If you do have a torsen diff, additive is not needed. Here is a pic of a torsen if you do not know what one looks like. http://www.geocities.com/duragizer44...es/torsen1.jpg

Don't know if the owners manual is wrong or not - but when I installed my TA cover I used the additive just to be sure, only a few dollars. I'll look in my helms to see what it says tomorrow.
