Default removing axel from ford 9 inch

Hey guys,

I am trying to pull the axeles from a ford 9 inch rear end. I was told that you just take off the brakes and unbolt the backing plates, and then pull the axeles out. Removal of the cover is supposed to be un neccessary because there is no c clips.

I did all this but they wont come out. Anyone have any suggestions? Or tricks that help to get them out? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

well, you need to take the brakes off. then you wil need to unbolt the backing plates. the axels should then come out, but the bearing fit in the housing tight, at least mine did so you might need a slide hammer

Slide hammer or a mallet. Give it a couple good strikes and it should pop out. But you're right, the bearings are a TIGHT fit.
