Default What gains will I get from a Vig3200 to a TCI4400?

I can't get past the $499 price of the Super Streetfighter. I was considering the TP4400 but, man almost 1k for a TC is crazy.

Right now I have a Vig3200, raceweight of 3400, MAC headers, 3" true duals,3.73s,TR230/224 cam and usual bolt-ons.

My best 1/8 has been a 7.503@93.6 w/ 1.63 60' on Hoosiers and prostars. I have a bone stock suspension set up. My Vig stalls too low and has too low of a shift extension.

Question for you folks:
Can TCI build me a TC that stalls to 4400 w/ 2.50STR and a shift extension of 5400?(I shift at 6400rpms)

Kristi- I've used the search function but, I still have some questions. What is your shift extension?

Why don't you get your Vig3200 restalled? If you bought it new it won't cost anything except for shipping... This is what I am going to try..

there is a reason for the yank to cost what it does being that it is made of simply the best components possible and is a tried and true product. there is no guessing about reliability and performance with these.

i have never run a TCI but from everyone elses downfalls with them i personally would up the extra amount for almost anything other than the TCI in the end it is your decision, and mine was to do it once and do it right without having to replace broken converters that could not stand up to my demands.

Consider our Phoenix Pro converter.

Transmission Converter Systems manufactures each Phoenix converter with the highest level of care and precision. Phoenix converters are equipped with furnace brazed impellers (pump) and turbines. The Phoenix lock-up converters are available with Carbon or Kevlar liners. I recommend the kevlar. The Phoenix lock-up converters are equipped with billet steel turbine hubs and Torrington Heavy Duty Thrust Bearings.
The Phoenix converter has three available types of stator roller clutches and one solid Comp-Cam.
The Phoenix LS1 lock-up converter is the only converter with a standard bronze thruster or optional bearing between the torque converter cover, turbine hub and piston. The Phoenix LS1 lock-up converter can withstand UP TO (1200) twelve hundred pounds of torque. The Phoenix LS1 lock-up is equipped with a six pad steel billet cover standard. (no six pad optional charge) We also supply the bolts. All Phoenix converters covers are cnc machined out of billet steel and designed for maximum strength. (Lighter is not better) most performance converters covers are machined to 1/8 inch thick at the wall points and 1/4 inch thick at the clutch surface. This will produce a light Weight cover. But now for the bad news, the light Weight cover can balloon and warp do to heat, FPI and clutch engagement slip. The Phoenix converter is guaranteed not to balloon for life or you will receive a free replacement.

So, three year warantee, unlimted re-stalls and all for $689! These converters ship in 3 days of order also.

I run their converter in my 9 second TA and have cut a best of 1.29 60'. No Yank, Vig, or TCI can say that...

Mikey

OK Mikey - this sounds interesting, since I am in the market for a new converter almost immediately.

Can one of these converters be built to
1) Stall 4000 on a solid roller 422?
2) Stall about 4600 on the same with a 150 shot?
3) Have a (multidisk?) lockup that can take 800 ft-lbs of torque?
4) Be built for a 200-4R in an F-body?

If so, I would be *very* interested.

Thanks!

Greg

Greg,

The Phoenix Super Pro can easily handle 850lbs of torque. The converter utilizes a steel billet piston with heavy-duty damper assembly. The friction liner is 100 % Kevlar which is special cut to allow for quick disbursal of ATF and quick lock-up engagement for a virtually non-slip, this piston will feel like you have a two disc lock-up system. This is our Genius piston, this is our exclusive design by TCS and yes we will be producing multi clutch converters 3-5 clutches we have not found them necessary to use with applications under 850 horse power simply because the Genius piston does the job.

Remember, you do get a 3 year warantee.

Yikes Mike,

I saw this about 1 hour after I ordered a converter. Thank you for taking the time to respond, but I am sorry about the timing

It turns out that I am indeed ordering a specially made TCS converter - Mike Kurtz, my tranny guy, is handling it for me.

Sorry again - but if these converters are as good as you say they are, you will soon have another person on this site giving a thumbs up to them.

I know Im not on a 9 second level by no means.

I have 2.73's and your basic bolt on's. I plan to spray a 100 shot possibly 150. Mid summer I plan on installin a cam as well. Would the Phoenix Pro be a good NA and No2 converter as well? I do alot of highway rolls.

Thanks
