Default How much stronger will a Diff cover make my 10 bolt?

I am going to be getting gears from my car and was thinking about getting a different differential cover. How much stronger would this make my rearend? Will it even make it stronger?

It does not necessarily make your differential stronger. What the cover does is give extra support to the main caps. As the ring gear comes under load it wants to put pressure on the main caps forcing them to push out. The TA style cover supports the caps with two set screws which are preloaded and hlps keep the caps from flexing.

About like Mr Glass's cane. It helps a bit, that is not questioned. Just don't abruptly load or shock anything. If ya do, well...that is why they sell new parts.

A good differential cover will make your 10-bolt practically bullet-proof after install.

At least until you drive it. Then all bets are off.

I was already typing my "you are a !@#$ing moron to say that about a 10 bolt" response till I saw the last line.

Mine held up behind a stiff clutch (Ram Powergrip and my current RPS), but never on a sticky tire, and it started making some unnatural noises towards the end of its life before I replaced it with a 12-bolt. It never did break, and did have a diff cover, but it was on its way out.
