tailshaft is broken :(...updated
well, i finally got my rear in, borrowed a torque arm, and i was going to put my new driveshaft in. I went to pull the rest of the old one out of the trans and it wouldnt come out. i pulled the light around and looked . the tailshaft housing was cracked completely off. i didnt pry to hard on the driveshaft once i saw that cause i was pissed off. any idea on whats broken, if the trans is still ok or what? i just put this (stock) trans in like 800 miles ago too. this sucks.

If it tore up the output shaft bushing & the case might be cracked. Sounds like the damage is done, unbolt the extension housing & pull the rest of shaft out & see.

Re: tailshaft is broken :(...updated
You can break the tailshaft without ruining the whole tranny.
A tailshaft piece might be $150 from Izzo.
I think you might want to run a beefy DS with your setup not a stock aluminum one.
I got one and it was like $400 from Izzo. Might sell it but I can get it shortened if I need to for the T400.

Re: tailshaft is broken :(...updated
ok, so i went out there to see what i could come up with. Once i took off the trans brace i could slide the broken part off, and the driveshaft came off easy then. the shaft is not at an obvious angle so i cant tell if its bent or not. but i imagine at 6K rpms that any little bend cant be too good. any way to tell if its bent? someone suggested getting a new tailshaft and seeing if its centered. would it even bend? or would it snap before it bent? i dont know what to do. i cant really afford a new trans right now
if i unbolt the rest of the tailshaft (where it connects to the trans) will i get flooded with trans fluid?
