Default May be dumb

I just picked up a 01 ws6. Cam, patriot heads, pacetter headers, lid, ls6 intake(well thats stock), and 4.10's. I have the dyno sheet it made 442 to the wheels and i know the guy took awsome care of it when he had it. My question is what happens if it has the stock rear end. I would love to take it to the track but scared to cuz it may break. Dont know how to tell if it has a different rear end in, it. If you could answer that thxs if not thank you for reading

It should be fine as long as you just slip the clutch. I wouldnt drop the clutch when putting out that much hp.

just be carefull is all you can do . if you go to the track try not to launch hard and just take it easy if that makes sense . some stock rears hold up and some dont . there are folks running 400+hp that have not had problems .

to check to see if it is the stock 10 bolt , look under the car in the back at the the round center section . as you may of guesse the stock center section will have 10 bolts . every aftermarket rearend i have seen is powdercoated (usually black) and i would of thought who you bought the ride from would have advertised the aftermarket rear as they do cost a bit . hope this helps

Always be afraid. I am. As stated, slip the clutch, try to avoid wheelspin and the 1-2 shift will probably have a pretty solid clunk to it. You should be fine. Although I haven't been to the track with my setup either.

Not really a matter of if but when. If you plan on beating on thecar at the track be prepared to upgrade the differential. Let me know if you have any questions, or when your ready to upgrade give me a call. We will be happy to help you out.

Run it hard till it breaks or replace it before it does. What's the point of having a fast car if you have to baby it? Gotta pay to play. Get a driveshaft loop if it doesn't already have one.

Look underneath and count the bolts that secure the rear cover. If you are running street radials (not drag radials), a 10-bolt rear will survive a trip to the track. Your ET will suck but you could have fun and learn how fast it will go. Unless your car is extra heavy, you should trap above 115.

You'll have to try out Muncie Dragway this year. Muncie Dragway was sold to a guy from Indy who is putting a lot of money into the facility. He had it repaved last Fall as the first step. Bob

The way I look at it is, you aint having fun til you break something....then you'll know if you need to upgrade. Im bout to put 4:10s in my stock rear and Im gonna give her hell, why not? Bunch of guys in the Fbody club Im in are running mid 10s to low 11s with stock rears and they are holding up so far...Good luck and have a trailer nearbye...
