Depending on the year of the car. There is a wire coming from the PCM you can tap into.

i have an '02 WS6 and thats the reason i dont have a tc yet is cuz i dont want to be driving around town under my stall speed all the time. also, with a lockup switch do you have to turn it off everytime you come to a stop and then back on when you get rolling again? i may be misunderstanding the concept of it so if i am could someone please inform me?

Lockup switch just engages the clutch on the converter. Problem is, the clutch will not engage unless it is spinning up fast enough (each converter seems to like certain rpms before it will engage properly). If you have it engaged at too low of an rpm, it will chatter a little bit, and sound horrible.
A lockup switch really isn't necessary for street driving. Yes, you will be in higher rpms street driving, you will eat more gas. That is just the price to pay for having a stall converter <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
