Moser 9" is here

Finally got the housing and axles yesterday, and yanked the old 10-bolt out. We weighed all the parts, and came up with 178 lbs for the 9". The stocker was around 140 lbs. I was a little surprised that the 10-bolt still looked brand new, with no leaks at all. But damn is that ring gear tiny <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> Don't know how it holds anything. The 9" housing came in at 100 lbs even. My custom center section weighed at 40 lbs, and axles were 19 lbs each for the 31 spline. Misc bolts and bearings weighed about a pound. Now to get that sucker painted and slapped together. It looks stout as hell <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Check the axle lengths. I have heard several times on the boards and seen first-hand with a friend's Moser, sometimes the axles are about .25" too long.

Yep, the damn driver side axle was about .25" too long. Nothing like taking a grinder to brand new axle. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />

yup had to do that to another guy axle.driver side little long so we had to grind.didnt have to do it on mine.dont know whats up with that.I guess ask Moser. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
