Default Backing Plate bolts - friendly reminder

So I had a weird rattle from the right rear of my car. I figured it was a bad brake caliper after pulling the wheel off, but I just took a quick look. I had the wheel off again today to see what part I needed to order and found that all 4 of my backing plate bolts on my Moser 9" were loose. Im not sure how exactly this happened as they were put on really tight with red loctite. Just a friendly reminder to keep an eye on them, who knows what could have happened if they let loose Anyone know how to prevent this?

Yeah I loctite those too. The other bolts that I loctite are the heavy bolts that secure the caliper bracket to the backing plates for the rear brakes and the heavy bolts that secure the caliper to the spindle for the front brakes.

My front bolts backed off many times and one even worked completely out once causing the caliper to swing out against the wheel causing terrible noise. Scared the crap out of me.

I used loctite and lock washers. Also at least for 12 bolt check the main caliper bolts, the 2 big ones. I had one come off and the caliper destroyed the rim.

One of my caliper bolts just fell out, knew I should not have drank so much Heineken during the install Now I'm going to go over everything.

sounds like you guys need to pay more attention when tightening bolt/nuts. i didnt use loctite on my backing bolts or caliper mount bolts and they have NEVER loosened up.

I used red loctite and tightened them as tight as I could, they should not have come loose.

I'm guessing the tightening them as tight as I could had something to do with it. They should be torqued to their proper specification.

you can only tighten them so much in the position they are. its not like i was standing on a half inch drive socket with a big breaker bar . You can only get the open end of a wrench on it because of the location they're in, dunno how you could get a torque wrench on them
