Shifting problems after TC & Shift kit I have just installed a TCI 3500 converter and a TCI shift kit on my 01 TA. The car drives fine under normal driving conditions but at WOT it will not upshift to 3rd gear. I bought a hypertech to adjust shift points but don't know which way to go with them. Raise the mph or lower the mph? I lowered it all the way down to -12 mph and it still won't shift. Is there something wrong or what? Is this a common thing with TC installs? I can't even race the car anymore.
Re: Shifting problems after TC & Shift kit I just finished installing my TCI 4400 and TCI shift kit but have not had a chance to drive it yet. Did your trans have the 3-4 accum. spring? Mine did not. So I just removed the two springs in the 1-2 accum. and replaced it with the supplied yellow spring. I Emailed TCI and they said it was o.k. It`s just a thought but maybe this is the problem, but I hope I`m wrong! Good luck.

Give TCI a call. Maybe they have an idea. My guess would be in the installation of the shift kit. The converter would not cause only the 2-3 to have issues. Any SES lights or pending trouble codes.

Re: Shifting problems after TC & Shift kit Let me know how your car runs because this is driving me crazy not being able to race the car anymore. As far as I know everything went just like the installation instructions. It seems like all the parts were there.

lowering shift points, the combo would
make it eventually upshift?
Seems to me that there would have to be a
gross hydraulic / mechanical change for
the trans to "ignore" the computer's
shift "command". The shift kit should
alter pressures and flows for firmness
and responsiveness -to- those commands,
not make it deaf.

Re: Shifting problems after TC & Shift kit its either the shift kit you install or when you adjustthe shift points with the hypertech prog.a friend is having problems with his right now due to changing shiftpoints.again every car is different.have yank 3000 on the 35th no shift kit and left shiftpoints alone and shifts fine at the track.just my o2.cents <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Does you tranny shift fine going down the road one time and then you start-having problems? I would, first, take off the pan and make sure that all the electrical connectors are hooked up inside and outside the tranny. If you find that they are all hooked up then find someone with a scan tool that can tell if the computer is sending a shift signal to the solenoid.
