Making a 10 bolt like an SLP unit??

Making a 10 bolt like an SLP unit??
I went to the track for the first time yesterday and was talking to a guy with a Firehawk that was running 12.0. The car was an A4 but had the factory SLP rear sporting 130k miles and he said he had never broken it and still quiet. He told me SLP put different caps, bolts and cover on from the factory and he thinks that is what has made it last. So where can I get the pieces they upgraded in it?

Dude was feeding you a line of bullshit. SLP didn't do anything to these particular rear axles. Trust me...I've gone through the stock 10-bolt on my SS myself, and there was absolutely nothing different.
Now I have a 12-bolt. If you want something to really last, you need to step up the physical size of everything back there. The stock 10-bolt is not a great idea, but with your A4, it'll last longer than those in an M6.

Exactly. I also believe the guy was full of ****, but even if he wasn't, putting on different main caps, a cover and bolts is like putting a bandaid on a gunshot wound. Enjoy your 10 bolt while it lasts (should be a while with an auto) and save up for an aftermarket rear.

And you think I didn't buy my car new? All they offered was a differential upgrade, which wasn't an upgrade in terms of overall strength. You definitely couldn't order the car with anything other than 3.42s from them, unless he knew someone there personally. He was full of ****.

I hate the people that say they have the "SLP Total Package" Bull shnot. If it was a SLP package it's called a Camaro SS or Firehawk. You could get a AAM cover but that's it, guy just has a good 10 bolt. Don't make the mistake of thinking it will make that much of a difference in it lasting. It will eventually break, rebuilt mine twice like a retard. Could have almost bought a rear for that much.
