Moser Problems *Please Respond*
Does anybody have any info on this? I have been told that if the driveshaft is not shortened it will tear up the transmission. This is bad.
So please post up if you have changed to a Moser and have had problems with your tranny. Also tell me how much I should shorten my driveshaft to insure my tranny doesnt get wrecked this season. Or if I even need to shorten it, if those few transmissions were just a fluke.
Please help me, the car is going to the dragstrip the first week of may!!!!

So I will have to get my DS shortened, if thats possible. Which means, shortened, welded and rebalanced. But how much shorter? There is a place in town that does driveshaft work. Hopefully I wont have to spend an arm and a leg to get the work done....if they will even do it of course.
I need a definite answer on this!!! How much do I shorten the DS???

Got to looking around and the angle that I welded the brackets was not great enough, which pulled the rear front. I cut the brackets then while the rear was under the car, rewelded to recenter the rear. Drive shaft goes right in now. There is about 1 to 1 1/2" play at the transmisson so I think its ok.
I don't know if the years make a difference but I have the 1350 yoke in mine.
Good Luck
Anyone that is interested. A local truck shop quoted me $45 bucks to shorten the driveshaft and balance it. So you have a price reference if you run into binding with your setup.
Thanks to all that replied!! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
Do what you want, but I don't see any sense in leaving the stock ds in there especially if your planning on drag racing it.
The LCA brackets will bring the rear in closer to the tranny. You might put your control arms to the stock location so you can use your stock driveshaft. We used LCA brackets and the stock driveshaft and haven't had any problems...you could barely get the the driveshaft on but never had it hit into the tranny. Give me a call if you have any problems. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Looks like this is just another Moser problem <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
its pretty easy to put it up in there and see for yourself how much room you have on your particular application.
Changed my mind, not swaping to A4 after all,got a FORD 9" instead,4.11 and strange Axles,.hoping it yields same results.
Will you be at Napierville the 27TH????
Now I got a bunch of A4 stuff,,,,,,,, <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
