4.10's will be a nice gear for you. You will obviously see a bunch more RPM on the highway, but the gains at the track will be enormous.
If you are looking for performance you really just need to look at what RPM will equate to the MPH you go through the traps at. With your car being mild bolts ons and growing, 4.10's should be just about perfect.
One warning, the torque multiplication of the numerically higher gear will put more strain on the rear housing and gears if/when you hook. so your 10bolt could be short lived if you hit the track regularly.

Good luck with it.

personally, I vote for 4.10s. part of my reason is stated above. I never would have done it, but the car I bought came with em. I was just gonna change em to 3.73s when I bought it. but I fell in love with 4.10s in the a4. I even drove it on a 28hr trip from florida, where I bought it, to oklahoma, where I was livin. didn't have any problems.

Too many rpms going through the traps? I was told that 3.73s would be borderline having to shift into od with a 26" tire. With 4.10s you would need a 28" tire I would think. Anybody with 4.10s have any info on what rpms they go through the traps at? I wanted to do 3.73s and was told that with a stall it wouldn't pick up much et from the 3.23s. Hmmmm......

Damn, 4 tenths.....thats impressive, manual or auto? what rpm you going through the traps at? Going by your sig you are much more modded than me so you probably are spinning it higher than 6000 rpms.

3.73s for an auto is ideal. 4.10s in an auto is overkill both on gas mileage and strain on parts

I'm just amazed because my gf cant average higher then 22-23mph highway with 3.42s with the A4 on her 00 T/A and i know shes not on the gas like i am with her car. I also can't drive 70-75 on I95 or the beltway around here so that might be part of it too...lol

3.42s gained us almost 2 tenths on the track with no other mods from her previous 2.73s.

haha. trust me, I was shocked as hell with the mpg's. that's why I kept them. I wish it was an ls1 though, it would be in the low 12s.

I have 3.89s with my A4 but I'm changing to 3.70s. Even with DRs and decnt suspension parts (except for shocks) I have trouble hooking on the street. 3.73s will work good for you. I skip first gear then spray a 100 wet shot and still smokes tires @ 45 mph. To me, 3.70s won't be the all out savior but I hope it helps traction management. Unless you have been in a 3.73 A4 already, the difference will surprise you.
Hate to say it, but you will gain more with a 3400-3800 stall.

3.23s with no horsepower mods but plenty of suspension mods=consistent 13.70s' at 2 different strips(Thompson and Norwalk) and 24.5 MPG for 8 trips from Cleveland,Ohio to Orlando,Florida and back.4.56s' with same no mods/mods=consistent 13.20s' at those both same strips and 21.5 MPG on an identical florida trip.I am going to be going to 4.10s' because I don't like being in 4th OD in the traps, but I'm in no hurry to stop using the 4.56s' because of their wickedness in 1st and 2nd on the street.
