Default Help With Mantic 9000 Clutch Install

My friend (who is a mechanic) will be tackling this project with my 2010 in a few weeks. I bought the kit from ECS. Any ips or tricks for getting this thing installed? I know he has done a few clutches in some higher horsepower mustangs, but never on a 5th gen camaro. I just want to help him out with info if I can.

Thanks guys!!

Your friend is a mechanic so I think you'll be in good hands.
drain and replace the hydraulic fluid. Maybe add an easy to access blender.

Thanks Ray. I feel confident in his ability (otherwise I would travel the 3 hours to ECS to have it done). I was just looking out for stumbling blocks he might come upon.

my cell phone butchered the spelling, I meant to type easy access bleeder not blender.
since your in there you may want to r&r the rear seal.
best regards

I never thought about the rear seal...that's a good call! I do have a small leak there anyway.

As far as the blender goes, I just thought you wanted me to make a mobile margarita maker with 750RWHP!

Mantic is in! I will pick it up later tonight. I'll give you guys an update on driving impressions after a few days. Next on the list is installing the remote clutch reservoir.

Drove the car home last night (about 15 miles). What a difference! The clutch engages very smoothly. You can definitely feel the lightweight flywheel in my setup. I have a large NA cam, so the car has little low speed torque. Stop and go traffic has always been a challenge. With the Mantic, getting going is a little harder. Once you are going (even a few MPH), it is noticeably better.

No burnout videos...yet! I want to baby it for a week or two.

About 250 miles on it now. Once moving, the new clutch is great. Driving in traffic and on the hills around my house...not so great. It is very touchy and there isn't much difference between stalling/bucking or clutch chatter. I have the ECS Big NA cam, so I am sure that is not helping things. I suspect the engine could use a bit more timing advance in the 1000-2000rpm range. I may have to think about buying some tuning software and venturing into computer tuning for the first time.

The engine revs effortlessly now! That also has its downsides...LOL

Chatter is probably a bad way to describe it. It is the normal shudder associated with riding out the clutch too long when pulling away from a stop. I hope with some more seat time, I will get used to the sweet spot that the clutch likes for pulling away from a stop (especially on an up-grade).
