In terms of sales, thats going to be the biggest impact right there. If they keep the Mustangs price under the Camaros like it currently is, its going turn the tables real quick since V6 models make up the majority.

Its funny how you know what ford will price your unofficial mustang at.
3.7L V6 to be rated at 315 horsepower: Same as 2010 GT; 15 hp more than Camaro V6
No immediate plans for EcoBoost V6 Mustang due to small horsepower gap between EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 (365 vs 400)
2011 Mustang GT to be rated at 400 horsepower, will get increase in 2012
2011 Mustang GT to get 6-speed transmission and variable valve timing
2011 Mustang GT Track Pack to include Brembo brakes
2011 Mustang GT 5.0L V8, 6-speed, track pack, Brembo brakes ran even with 414-hp BMW M3, which is 200 lbs lighter, at GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan
2011 Shelby GT500 to get Aluminum Block
Next special edition: 2012 Boss

Personally? I really hope it happens. I enjoy more competition on the road. I still think its a big 50/50 whether we'll see anything or not. Like I said since 1996 Ford has had an abusive history with making the GTs power plants sadder than an emo watching Twilight. They didnt give one **** about power, it was all about the "modular" capability of the engine and how it fit into multiple vehicles and kept costs down.
On the other hand, someone over there may have finally got to them and let them in on the fact that MSRPs be dammed, for a customer to drive out of the dealer with a leather equipped, nice wheels, good sound system GT they are breaking into the $32k+ range where the former GTO and new Camaro (and even G8) hand the S197 its *** in every way. Honestly its about damn time they gave that Mustang a worthwhile engine that the consumer can compete with.
The other question will be how expandable will this new engine be? They say 400/400 (Welcome to 2005 Ford). It may be 5.0 which im sure has the Ford guys

Like I said, I hope it happens, but Im not holding my breath.

If there keeping pretty much the same car but swapping engines the 6 should weigh less. It might actually help Ford because then everyone would trade their old current GT in for the new one.

True. HP advertising is probably a big reason why ppl will buy V6 Camaros over GTs right now, even tho the GT is faster.

More HP to keep up with the weight increase, my feeling is the 5.0 will be delayed into or after 2012 for this reason.

I was commenting on him giving exact prices. Its purely speculation at this point; hell ford could go for the throat and price it barely cost and try to end the camaro and challenger early(both are in an extremely precarious position at the point).
Point is who knows what it will be priced at

Supposedly Ford is bringing in the 5.0 to replace all current 4.6 duties (and possibly many of the 5.4's duties as well). If that proves true, the price increase might be as much as many of us were predicting. If they keep building the 4.6 AND build the 5.0.......yea, you're looking at a 2 to 3K increase in price. But this is all just speculation. Ford hasn't even officially confirmed the motor........so arguing over power specs and pricing is a bit premature. All should be revealed by the beginning of 2010.
