New 2011 Z28 is Back

Yes and no. They still need to sell them and build up the company again. GM has been fighting for how long about union wages? Now is the time that they can finally price cars appropriately rather than overcharge because the labor was too damn expensive. Not to mention the dealers aren't exactly making money hand over fist right now. Either way, it will still come down to supply and demand and how the economy is doing by the time the car goes on sale. And GM has always been cautious about these cars competing with their Vette.

Hopefully it wont be that bad, I am assuming the car will receive some lighter forged wheels to help offset the weight of the LSA, and maybe weight will be trimmed from some other areas, so hopefully weight will remain similar to the SS. Around 3900 lbs for the M6 I would guess. This is similar to the GT500.

I agree and disagree with that. The only thing that "diluted" the SS market were the 4th gen Camaros. All of the GM "SS" vehicles (except the '10 Camaro) were performance oriented versions of an otherwise boring car. Adding a turbo here, a blower there, shoehorning a V8 under the hood.... Way more than a body kit and bigger wheels. IE, 4th gen SS's

personally, I don't care what they call it. They could call it a Nova, I'd still want it. I think that I am gonna have to put my hopes of a 2010 SS on hold and wait till this one comes out. I just wish that it was naturally aspirated, but I'll take a 550 hp stock camaro any day.

the z28 used to be the car back in the day to be the acuall racer, it was a pace car and such lighter more hp they are going back old school

im also sure cutting weight out of these cars will be EASY...lightwheight wheels, removal of many unnecessary items.. solid axle swap...the list goes on...

Originally the Z28 was the race car, but the SS was the fastest one because it came with the big block. You could get a 69 with a 427 RS/SS package. Even though the 302 Z28 might have handled better it had no chance in a straight line.

And i think GM should offer a option like the cobrajet mustang, pretty much a gt500 drag racer. The Z28 "drag pack" w/ a built A3, solid rear axle, smaller brakes, maybe even forgen internals, now that would be badass.

Correct me if I wrong but you could only get a 427 in the Yenko and ZL1 not the regular SS. Now I wasnt around back then but everywhere I've read shows the Z28 was quicker in the quarter.
