Default 2011 camaro?

How come no one is talking about the 2011 camaro? Does anyone know if there is going to be any changes hp wise and weight. With the 2011 mustang coming out Chevy has to step up and do something, either power or weight wise? Right? Come on GM respond with something we are waiting?

i was hoping to maybe see a hp bump or something. It kinda sucks americas pony cars are being turned into luxury cars. also i hear the 5.0 isnt going to respond to mods well due to it was kind of maxed from the factory? and is the z28 definitely coming out in 11'?

I think I saw in motor trend last year that the Z28 is going to be better than the ss if I am not mistaken. Don't remember the stats sorry.

yeah the z28 is suppose to be a supercharged car with anywhere from 556 hp to 590 will be with the gt500's in price. But does anyone know if this is official? I say we just call it a day and drop the 7.0 z06 motor in the camaros

Dropping a 7.0 would be cool from a MOD standpoint. But stock it wouldnt be rated higher than a Vette and the Vettes 7.0 comes with 505hp. They are going with the LSA engine found in the cts-v thats supercharged with 556 hp.

We'll probably see minor upgrades for the 2011 model year because the 2010 is still a hit. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Yeah i am just wondering how much of a hit the 2010 will be with the new mustang body and power train. I would really just like to see gm offer a lightweight option with no leather all manual and some 3.73's or 4'10s that would fix all of the issues

Is there a way to lok at past magizines that were printed? They have a pretty go write up on the Z28 last year.

While I do like the looks of the new Camaro (and the current Mustang as well), I'd probably still have to agree with ya on that one. Those Challengers are hot looking, heavy as all hell, but good lookin' cars that pay nice homage to the originals for sure.

But they didn't want the new Camaro looking too much like the old. Sure, the 1st gen is a sweet car (be cool to own one) but they said they wanted it modern with just some throwbacks to the old ones. Not a practically all-out retro like the Challenger is.

if GM was smart they would build an EXACT in and out replica of a 69 camaro with a modern performance ( but with all the safety & emissions junk to make it legal). how awesome would that be. they would sell millions. take the rear of the 2010 camaro.... looks nothing like a 60s camaro.

90,000 people think the 5th gen looks just fine. I think GM was smart with the car as it is. The whole point was to make it a 5th gen, not a modern 1st gen. Since the car is a hit I would guess the 2011 gets some upgrades like HUD, the pass. seat gets power and navi is offered. Maybe a couple new colors. I don't think it will get an HP bump till 2012 or so, and even then it won't be much. Maybe 10-15HP. I would like to see a B4C and possibly a 1LE, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

True. The new Challenger was/is also a hit and is still selling relatively well using that 'almost the same as the original' retro approach, there is a chance that the Camaro might've met with even more success had they followed that path but I'm not sure.
I personally would prefer it but I'm not positive that the general population/average new car buyer would appreciate it much (especially those that don't even know nor care about what a '69 Camaro looked like) and they're the ones who's opinions (and dollars) are also important to GM.

The 2011 Z28 from what I heard was a go...so umm ya, hp bump from hell.... Are they going to call the engine the LSA or are they going to call it like an LS8 or something....

The LS9 is just a supercharged LS3 basically, and the LS9 is very similar to the LSA....

That is my question... either way, I have a new dream car when it comes out...2011 Z/28!! I think they should use the old school badging for the new Z28...
