No spring and swaybar are the same, some are more expensive than other, but I don't really see anything wrong with paying around $1000 for a good set of springs and sways...

Lets see what the new 400 HP plus 2011 Mustang prices at. It weighs 3500 lbs. Besides, keep in mind the 5th gen has a McPhearson pogo stick front suspension and IRS rear axle, not a drag racer's delight nor a circuit racer's.
You would think with an IRS, the front end should be dual control arms with coilovers. Oh well, time to consider a Watts link.
You do know that the mustang also uses macpherson struts in the front as well right? Along with BMWs, which are known for their tight, sweet handling.

one thing to keep in mind also. I just purchased a 02 ws6 w/44k miles. Since pontiac is no more these are considered highly collectible vechicles.I have clasic/collector policy from www.hagerty.com that costs me $300/year. yes i am limited to 5000 miles a year but i doubt if i will see more than half that as it is a weekend warrior.

I was really excited about the 2010 SS, and I liked the challenger's too, but always been hardcore GM, actually chevy fan until I got my WS6. Only reason was it looked meaner than the SS to me and I had seen sooo many around my area (STL) run 12's with not much at all, a lot of 01-02's running 12.70's-13.0's with just DR's and air lids/catbacks. I ran 13.18@104mph with SLP lid, hooker muffler,MSD plug wires and that opened my eyes wide!...I had a '79 Z28 with built motor, 284 dur/490 lift cam, suspension, 4spd, 3:73's, built double hump heads and was running 13.60's and I was out running most street cars till the 01-02 LS1's came out then I had to get one, and needless to say the '79 Z28 went bye bye. I had my 6spd built and put LS7 clutch in, pro 5.0 shifter, LT headers, 3in catless Y pipe, and free mods and with fuzion ZRi rear tires am running 12.49@112mph, and nothing is done but what I said, stock suspension, stock 3:42's, most people cant tell anything is done except the headers and my debate is that the 2010 SS and the challengers both were supposed to run low low 13's and the best 2010 SS ive seen had exhaust/intake mods and was running a best of 13.60@106mph with same 60ft as me....I dont get it, its rated 100hp more than my car, I put down 308RWHP with lid and muffler and with headers/catless y pipe and tranny work I put down 347RWHP and have never had a 2010 SS come close to me, or a C5 vette. The C6 vette with just exhaust always runs around 12.30-12.60's they are right next to me and are rated same HP as the 2010SS. I just wanna know what GM is up too, it doesnt make sense! I seen a 2010 SS with The ZR1 supercharger kit run 12.10, but still thats just terrible, for a 430hp car with a 110hp added supercharger kit...I've seen plenty of 01-02 LS1's cammed and geared run low 11's!

Theres a **** ton of people buying these, I would say most are in it for the flavor of the week. Averge Joe doesnt get attention in his beemer so he buys a 2010 ss and slaps a supercharger on it, then goes to the track and makes a fool of himself running bolt on times.

Give it a year, times will come down. There are a few supercharged Camaros on another camaro site that run mid-high 12's supercharged.

Nice!!

I did a quick run against my friend (he was in a Camaro SS A6-stock) from a ~60 roll. I left it on D. I don't know if he shifted manually or left it on D. I quickly jumped about 3/4 of a car ahead of him. I wasn't watching the speedometer, but we were a bit past 120mph.... thats about when he was bringing it to a tie. We left off then.

I know that in the long run he would have started getting ahead, obviously from the extra power. I thought he would have gotten ahead more quickly since it was from a roll.

Mods listed below. Just lid and bullet. Paper filter lol.

Default 2010 Maro times

Gotta remember that the 2010 is a little heavier, therefore the times are not going to be that great, yet. LIke the last post said, give it a lil while and we'll see em go faster.

If GM would offer a plain bone trim one that would be lighter, they might make a better time? Like no power seats, windows and cloth seats?

But we know that's not gonna happen cause everyone wants every lil option for the Luxury gig.

You're not going get manual window gear inside of the skinny doors of the 5th gen. If you could it may not save any real weight, in the Turbo Buick world we found out that there wasn't any real weight savings going from power to manual window's.

As far as modability, my 2010 was running 10's back in November, I still haven't had the heads off of the car.

The technology is out there for someone to run 7's in one if they wanted to spend the $, there is no big learning curve on any part of the 5th gens with the exception of the IRS. I would be running a lot quicker than I do now if I had my IRS all figured out, but I'm still very happy with the car.

So you don't think I'm biased, I also own 2 4th gens, 1 9 second street car & the other is being turned into a race car, I've also been modding LS1's since 01 & I can promise all of you that the 5th gen is an all around better car. Might be heavier, but it rides like a dream for such a quick car.

The only thing it boils down to is how much you willing to spend....

This is not rocket science btw..... If you are going to be building a Drag car then um... Hello???? get the cheaper platform to build on since your Times are all that matters....

Now if you want a daily driver that has a better interior than a 4th gen (not hard to do lol), rides much better (dont bother to argue lol), and looks great then buy a 5th gen...

I do not understand the confusion so many people have... All the arguments and bikkering and internet 8===> messuring contest.

Of course the newer car is going to be overall a better car.. Thats kinda what car companies do ya know.... Its product life cycle..

Your starting price is over 30grand for a min of a 1ss. Then people through in the ground effects, stripes, oh wait... I want RS package as well... it is very easy to have the loaded up to over 40 grand or atleast near it...

Guess what more and more people are doing these days? thats right modding their cars... Supercharger cost and install nearly 10 grand. POOF no more warranty.... so....

What I am saying is if you plan on moddign the hell outta ya car and voiding the warranty anyway then grab a 4th gen or get a c5 or something. Now if money is no object and please be honest with yourself on this (so many freaking internet rich guys around ) then get a 5th gen or better yet just get you a c6 or hell even a z06.

It seems like I was as surprised about my 2010 SS as you were with your T/A. Last fall on my 2nd trip to the track ever with the car I was able to run a 12.7 @ 111 with a very dismal 2.08 60'. This was also the 2nd time I had ever driven a manual car at the track. The car was mostly stock with the only mods being a CAI and tune. I think a lot of people who aren't in to racing bought these cars and took them to the track for fun and that's why you see the high 13 times. It's not GM, these cars have gone as fast as 12.5 bone stock.
