The v6 received NO changes at all, they just re-certified it at 312 hp. I understand what they are doing but that is really pointless. At least claim a revised air filter bracket or something stupid made the difference. The HUD is nice, but I was hoping for a few performance tweaks, at the very least a gearing option. I guess they are saving that for 2012.

But I have no doubt that there will be people who think "312hp is more than last year and more than the Mustang"...and not look into where the extra power came from. I would figure that they could have said that the extra power came from tuning revisions, but when you have 8 more horsepower than the year before, the people with 2010 models are going to feel slighted. This way, they havent pissed off 2010 buyers and they still have the perceived power advantage and gains.

Sweet, I have the light weight 2SS with no HUD or back up sensors. Time to get some 1LE badges!

They will never offer a higher gear ratio because it would lower the overall MPG and the EPA would stomp on them.

Actually, that is a nice little loop hole in the EPA rating system. Only combinations of Engine and transmission have to be rated. If a company offers a higher gear ratio, like Ford does with the Mustang, they are allowed to use the rating from the lower ratio for those vehicles regardless of which gear option you get. Kind of sneaky, but it works. Ford sends off 3.73 equipped cars for testing and claims they get 26 mpg or whatever, but those numbers were achieved with 3.23 cars.

I believe this is why the 4th gen auto cars were offered with 2.73 gears, to avoid the gas guzzler tax, then they sent the 3.23 cars to magazines for testing. Bring on the 3.90's!

Oh did you hear that they did nothing to the v6 to get the extra ponies? Yup they just certified it to 312 this time. So technically your 2010 is 312hp too.
