i don't doubt a 5th gen could get into the 11's with bolt ons. i don't know of any but i'm sure an LS1 4th gen could too. damn that 10 bolt though! how strong is the IRS in the '10?

To the original topic. I am sure a very stout H/C build would pull me for sure. I still am rather positive my 98 would beat my current car...but then again SOTP isnt always accurate. Compared to my friends car my 98 had about 200lbs less weight, a higher compression ratio and 25ftlbs of torque across the board.

Have you got the ADM scoop and washer bottle relocation? I just put that on and the install was smooth and everything fit great. Supposed to be good for a dyno proven ~5rwhp. Every little bit helps....
I race at Milan maybe we can meet up.

Was the ls1 guy experienced? I find the outcome to be surprising. Most of the bolt on 10SS guys around here are running in the 12.3-12.5 range. The average H/C LS1 should be low-mid 11's. Good kill though. SS's are faster than I thought apparently.

I agree, the outcome is surprising for sure. Although, you would think an average, properly setup, well-maintained H/C Z28 matched up against a bolt-on 5th gen SS with equally matched drivers on the same day in good conditions would result in the H/C Z28 putting a good amount of distance on the 5th gen SS. But, as we all know, crazy things happen out in the real world. Lot's of variables that could have altered the outcome of the race.

Both are quick cars though, there's no doubt about that

My friend went 11.9 in his '10 SS down here in Houston on a not insanely low DA day (it was in the very low 70s)

Full intake/exhaust/tune car with a ported throttle body. Stock gears and stock intake manifold.

That is impressive. Any suspension mods? And what tires? I don't care what most people are saying about the new 5th gens, they are fast cars in the right hands. I would love to own one, but can't afford one. Some day... some day.

MI Z28... I think most of these guys talking crap have NO idea what there talking about! These cars are awesome, I loved my 4th gen's but once you drive a M6 SS that's gonna be all you think about But ya, they have some wieght and they are not as forgiving to bad driver's as a lighter 4th gen is.

I played cat and mouse with a 5th gen today. IOM with white rally stripes and IO interior, gorgeous car! Had I not bought my 4th gen, this is the car I would have saved for. It was an auto, but moved extremely well. Could not get a race in because it was a two lane highway with heavy traffic going the other way. I would give him the hit and he would pull away from me from 10-40mph then I would begin to slowly reel him in from 40-80mph. This surprised me a bit, I thought he would have the advantage up top. Mods are in my signature, I'm positive the 5th gen was stock because it sure sounded quiet. If I didn't need a truck I would be buying a new SS to give my 4th gen some company in the garage.

Question: were any autos equipped with the LS3 or does the LS3 come with the manual only?
