Default 2011 Camaro LS3 6 speed vs LS1 Trans Am 6 speed

Has anyone driven both? Can anyone tell me what the MAIN differences are when driving them?

I might be purchasing a 2011 Camaro and i'm curious to know what it's like! I am going to test drive it of course, but I was hoping to have some others input as well!

Why was this moved here? This has nothing to do with this forum.

5th gens are alot more refined.

4th gens are more no nonsense cars. not nearly as refined or comfortable but get the job done.

i like them both and plan on buying a 5th gen someday.

The 5th gen prolly rides like a cadillac compared to an f-body

hahahaha! Really? It's that comfortable

What about the awesome LS1 low end? 6th gear, 50mph and can get up to 70mph no problem for cruising.

Doing 20mph in 4th gear and having no issue at all.

Save some dough and buy a used 2010. Nothing really new for a 2011.

If I can finance one from a dealer, I would. 2010 Camaros are fine for me!

Thats my only regret, not buying one used and not taking that initial value hit.

The 2010s are not much softer, if anything the car is stiffer! My 10 feels stiffer but more solid then my bro's T/A and that really shows. The diff is the 10 is just better in every way, the 4th gen feels so old to me now that it reminds me of my 70 olds Not bashing, I love 4th gens but once you really get the feel for these new 5th gens...they are plane AWESOME! I LOVE my car

If you go with a 2010 make sure you get one with a build later than the first 25000 or so. Quite a few of the early models got a bad batch of transmission output shafts that break when you hook hard.

If you dont ever plan on running sticky tires then I guess forget about it.

Nope, I'm actually happy I didn't wait. I paid about 33K with my GM card discount. It seems like 2SS's with 10K miles are still going for 30. I think you can find left over 2010's for invoice which is the way I would go.

There were 2 kinds, the newer version and the "world" card. I had the word so they let me use all of 3K on the Camaro. It was a nice surprise.

I have driven both " own the 6speed ws6" and honestly I won't give them a dime for that piece of **** they call a Camaro. Is it fast? Sure as fast as the ws6 " I recently posted a thread that describes my win against a 2010" and refined? My ***. It feels like your driving a box with tiny slits for windows. Blindspots bigger then on my semi. IMHO go for a ctsv coupe!! Or an ls3 vette.

Nuts.... My car isn't exactly stock, but I haven't been beat by a 4th gen yet (obviously, there are many out there that could easily destroy the new 5th Gens). I've also beat a couple new 5.0's. I may not be the best judge because I don't go out looking for races every day. Yeah blind spots suck, but I like driving a Tank...

The fact remains, he didn't ask if the 4th Gen can beat a 5th gen, he simply wanted to know how they feel in comparison. I think someone hit the nail on the head higher up. It is a more refined. It handles much better, you can thank the independent rear for that (I autocross mine as well). I've owned a handful of LS powered cars, and I have the most fun with the new Camaro. That and my 5th gen gets more looks than anything else i've owned. Everybody feels things a little differently, just make sure you test drive the M6. Chances are the dealer hasn't done the fuse pull.

For your SA: I've owned a 96 Z28 with a 390 in it, 06 Impala SS, 06 GTO, and my Camaro. I will be ordering the ZL1 come December as well.
