We've had questions regarding the entire procedure, so we thought we would install a Halltech Yellow Jacket on one of our Camaros in order to get some pictures for you guys. If you have any questions feel free to give us a call any time!

Here are the tools you need:



That's a T20 Torx bit, a 10mm socket, a ratchet, a screwdriver, and a box cutter. The box cutter is optional. I needed it to shorten the PCV hose to the valve cover that you'll learn about later. If you think a hammer fixes all problems. . .it won't work this time, get a box cutter.


Unpack your box and make sure you have everything.

[x]SDPC box so you know you got the BEST deal





Once you know you have all of the parts, it's time to get to work. Here is what you start with



Unplug your Mass Airflow Sensor. I'm just pointing at it with a screwdriver, you don't need one here. Just squeeze the release tab and it will pull right off.



Loosen the clamp that holds the intake tube onto your throttle body



Remove the two 10mm nuts at the back of the air filter housing. Each end of the screwdriver indicates one of the two 10mm nuts you will remove.



Before you can remove the entire intake system, you must remove the tube to the valve cover for the PCV system

Remove your oil fill cap



Lift up the engine cover and follow the line to the valve cover. Simply squeeze the tab and pull the hose off.




You may now pull the entire intake system out of the car. It will be tight on the studs at the back of the filter housing and may require some force to lift it up. Pull the tube off of the throttle body, then lift up off the studs. Pull up and toward the rear of the vehicle and the whole intake will come out.






Now is the fun part, lets prepare and install the Halltech Yellow Jacket air intake system. These are available in Carbon Fiber as well, but we are installing the standard version.

Remove a rubber grommet from the old filter housing and place it in the Halltech air shroud. The center metal portion can be very simply removed to aid in getting the rubber grommet in place, and reinserted once the grommet is in place



Slide the intake tube through the shroud. There is an indention in one side of the shoud that will allow the MAF bung to pass through. You can not have the MAF sensor in the new Halltech intake tube yet when you do this



Put the shroud and tube in the car, the shroud will only fit in one place, it is nicely formed to follow the Camaro's body. The grommet you installed will utilize the farther left stud exposed when you removed the factory filter housing. Reinstall one of the 10mm nuts on the stud to hold the shroud in place



Use the lube provided and work the silicone coupler onto the Halltech intake tube. It will be a tight fit but it will definitely go on.




Put both of the metal clamps into the coupler, and go ahead and tighten them until they start to get snug. It will be easier now than when it's pushed onto the TB. Then, slide the coupler onto the TB and tighten the clamps



Using the rubber hose provided, connect the nipple on the new Halltech tube to the valve cover where you removed the factory plastic line earlier. It will be tight and hard to get on the valve cover nipple



Now, remove the MAF sensor from your old intake tract using your T20 Torx bit. Install the rubber seals provided with the Halltech kit onto your factory screws.



Slide the MAF sensor into the Halltech tube and put both screws in. They do not need to be very tight, don't break your new intake tube by going Incredible Hulk on the screws! Also, plug the sensor back in once it's installed.



Install the air filter
