I found this thread amusing.
1. Get rid of the stock catback not for HP gain, but for either a sound you like or because the thing weighs a ton. There is close to 40-50 pound weight saving converting to most aftermarket catbacks.
2. The CAI debate amuses me. I've ran multiple configurations on a variety of vehicles and they all do about the same. If you have plans to do more with your car, talk to your performance shop and ask them which they prefer to tune.
3. Determine your next step in modifications when making a header and cat decision. A lot of the FI guys are blowing out the cats on their cars. Choose a brand based on quality and what you can afford. Personally, I prefer built in the USA and especially locally which is why I chose Kooks. I even picked mine up at their facility.
Maryland Speed may be a personal issue with the one person on here. However, I received nothing but great service and pricing from them. I would purchase from them again in a minute.

For a little more $$$ you can get Kooks headers/mid pipes with cats/axleback mufflers. You will love the sound AND the power increase. I'm going to do the same thing to my G8 and connect the headers/mid pipes to my Borla axlebacks when I get the $$$. The Camaro uses the same setup and this is how it sounds on the G8.
