Default muffler delete?

just got my first camaro and ive been reading and watching the you tube videos looks like most people are doing most of the loud axle backs are just muffler deletes so i was thinking about taking it to al's muffler shop but i read somewhere that you have to get double walled tips with a delete is this true or is someone just trying to make a sale?

Take it to a muffler shop, tell the to remove the muffler and keep the piping size the same and use the stock tips (if you want). My buddy almost spent $400 bucks on slp catback... but if you look at it all it is is a muffler delete with bigger tips. Took it to an exhaust shop using the stock tips they charged him 80 bucks and had it ready in about 30 mins. Tips do affect the sound but if you want to just be able to hear the car, delete the muffler, use stock tips if you don't like the sound buy the tips you want and have them installed down the road.

I'd have them put some Dynomax Bullet mufflers in. If not once you add headers it will be STOOPID loud.

Yeah, that is going to be expected. You put an air freshener in a new car and your hvac system warranty is now voided, lol. There really is no way around it if you want that sound you have to remove the exhaust at a factory clamp. Have them customize some piping to mate to the factory and buy different tips. Then if you have problems swap the muffler delete pipes with your stock mufflers and take it to the stealership.

If you look around like on www.camaro5.com you can find stock mufflers for dirt, you could bring them to the shop and reuse the tips and keep your stock ones intact.

!mufflers will be cool, but like gunny said if you do more exhaust work it would get very loud. I'm running Kooks long tubes + cats and stock remaining exhaust and it's quiet at idle, a bit quiet at part throttle and loud at WOT. I'd like it louder all over but I don't want it to be screamin' at WOT.

The other option is to remove the stock resonator and put an X pipe in.

Another option is we have a very nice 304 stainless muffler delete kit that can be done at home in 20 minutes. The LS1 tech price on these is $235.00 SHIPPED!

Muffler delete is the cheap easy answer to make the car sound good, but if the funds are there I'd buy a full catback, headers & hi-flow cats.

"Phoenix" is right. I have a 2013 SS with JBA full exhaust (1-7/8 Headers, cat deletes, and cat back exhaust 3" to 4"tips). You cannot substitute that raw sound that you get with an aftermarket exhaust vs the stock 2 1/2" exhaust. The money is well worth it, and even posing off your neighbors every time you start her up cold :-).....
