Originally....I weighed my car on a certified CAT scale. Nobody in the car, 1/2 tank of gas exactly, as the car comes from the factory. No ground effects, standard 20" wheels, no rs package (not that it matters).
Front axle weight was 2020 lbs
rear axle was 1840 lbs
for the combined weight of 3860 lbs.
Today I weighed it again
Front axle was 1980
Rear axle was 1700
Total weight 3680 with 1/2 of gas again.
I still have the stock front wheels on and expect to lose a little bit more when I get my 18" zo6 wheels on there.
Anyways so far Ive removed an easy 180 lbs. I guess it will be at least a solid 200 lbs when I get the new fronts on.

Long tubes with custom x-pipe to replace resonator. Muffler delete.
Front and rear bumber supports removed, along with some plastic from inside the front.
Engine covers, hood liner a few heat shields.
Tire inflator kit. Rear trunk mat, spare tire cover and floor mats.
Swapped to v6 brakes. Rear wheels are 18" knock off c6 z06 wheels.
Im trying to keep everything practical on the car. Thats with added weight of a trans cooler and nitrous kit without a bottle in the car. There doesnt seem to be many other places to cut weight without spending money.

Would any of you guys do a SRA swap if/when they become available? Probably save some weight there also. It was pretty much mandatory on earlier fbodies if you were making any kind of power...lol.

I have a feeling SRA swaps will become more popular with this car. But I also think they will be very expensive and only hard core drag racers and straight liners will be doing it. It's not like the terminators where they engineered an IRS to fit in an SRA space. The 5th gen is a ture 4.5 link IRS and will take some fabrication to get an SRA in. It will be done but for the cost I plan on building up the IRS with some axles and possibly a 12 bolt center section.

I dont think weight is that much of an issue with the rear half of the car so that alone would not be reason enough for me to ever want to swap to a sra. They seem to be doing alright with HD axles as they sit. Time will tell.
Extreme Innovations sells a new k-member for the camaro. Its $1,700 though for a 30lb difference. I cant justify that in this stage of the cars life.

Another 15lbs out of the car. Removed coil brackets and mounted them directly to the valve cover (thank you dodge for the idea) and removed some sound deadening. Other than that, Ideas are starting to come scarce unless going for a full drag car.

Its a bit dirty, I know. Its winter and pointless to clean the engine bay till like April. Also I still have to re-loom the coil pack wires so its not so messy.
Could just be the angle you took the picture from, but your #7 plug wire looks like it is touching your #5 primary tube. (!!)
Weight is one big reason I don't own a 5th gen, at least not yet. I still can't get over the weight.
A buddy is a car salesman and borrowed a 2010 from the lot one night. He let me beat on it and I was not impressed. Granted it was bone stock, but my '99 Z28 that just has bolt-ons feels definitely faster and is more fun to drive. It has zero weight reduction, but is a factory stripper. Can't see selling my $10K car and spending $20K+ more for one that is slower. Yes, the 2010/2011 is nice and new. Yes, it's a nicer car overall. Yes, it rides better. Yes, it has a higher quality feel to it. Yes, it's safer. etc. etc. etc. But quickness is the such an important consideration for me that I can't see getting rid of a faster car and spending that much more coin to be slower.
Not hatin' on your car, OP. Just thinking out loud and it's just my opinion. The 5th gen is selling like hotcakes and that's great for GM.

Without. And the angle of the pic along with my cellphone quality camera make the wire look likes its resting on the header.
The driver seat weighed about 55lbs fyiw, I weighed it while trimming the carpet.

So 4060 stock for the auto, figure what, 4030 for the MN6.
3700 raceweight would be great, I'd settle for 3800 though.
I'm guessing the stock whee/tires could be pretty heavy, though I'm not sure how much weight can be dropped with aftermarket wheels in the same size.
