Ford went with a three link live rear axle setup with the new Mustang, even after using an IRS on the previous Cobra. It seems to be selling pretty well and doing well in performance setups.

Just because its old tech doesn't mean it doesn't work.

True, true but they werent too worried about ride quality. The car still feels like it rides on a live axle.

GM used the IRS on the new ZR1. Just because its new tech doesnt mean it wont work.

Seriously, I do agree with you. I wish it was a solid rear to save money and weight on the car but Ill reserve judgement on it until I drive the car and drive it hard.

I guess I'm not that concerned about ride quality either.

I'm looking forward to taking one for a test drive and seeing how it is, it would just have some big shoes to fill.

$40k is right for a 2SS/RS with options, thats right about where my step dad's is going to be. Most of us don't just get the base model 1SS... Also, if you consider that my car new was $33k in 2002, 40k for a new one isn't that bad with the improvements made to it.

Patman or jeff2380,

Can you tell me what the max operating RPM is before hitting the rev-limiter? Also, did you get to use the 4-cylinder cruise control? Are the LS3 and L98 all aluminum engines?

So they're keeping the dual headlights and not the quad headlight variant that appeared on several prototypes?

Thanks for sharing info and pictures.

I think you mean L99...the L98 is from way back in the '80s/early 90s.
And yes, the LS3 and the L99 are all aluminum as is the base model's V6.

The L99 is derived from the LS3. It has little changes such as a different cam profile(smoother idle). It also has the Active Fuel Management, that can shut off 4 cylinders at cruising speeds. The L99 also has a 10.4CR compared to the 10.7CR of the LS3(due to valve reliefs on the L99). The PCV system is different too...

Question

I'm still on the fence about this car.
I still do not like the looks of the exterior of the car to begin with. The interior looks ok.
Performance wise, I'm not too impressed with what is written about it so far.
I guess I would have to see one and drive one to really know.
