I think there will be alot of people that are going to eat there words. I say that after these cars get some miles on them and they get into the right hands we will see mid 12s @112 to 113 and I consider that fast for a stock pony car. Most of the mags were running mid 13s @107 to 108 with the 01/02 cars and my WS6 ran 13.1 @109 and I only had it a week. With more time I know I could have run in the 12s dead stock.
The same with the Cobras, Most mags were running low 13s @109 to 110. My car only had about 300 miles on it and I ran 12.6 @113 dead stock.
Give me a new 6 speed Camaro and some seat time and I feel confident that I could run mid 12s.

Who cares what the car weighs?????
We are going into new uncharted territory here, its NOT a 4th gen car, none of it is.
13.0x @ 111mph is real good for magazine side road tests. This car is a low 12 sec performer. 11 sec car all day with tweaks.
Pull the panties out of your cracks, order new camaros, and make them fast..just like you did with the 4th gen cars.
I remember when everyone was talking about how the LS1 barely made any more power than their lt1 cars, the 98 camaro wasn't worth anything..blahblahblah...... now I laugh.

Heh, people forget that the mags barely managed a 13.5 finally in the 2002 SS. Prior to that our LS1 equipped pony's were practically 14 second cars. So I'm willing to bet the V6 in the hands of experienced drivers will be a 13 car, and the SS will be a 12.
It's still fat though.

Let me clearify, I know that alot of other cars have gotten porky in the last few years, yes even some Italian Sports Cars. The Mustang GT is what 3400 to 3500? So even if you add in the weight of the IRS the Camaro should be around 3700, not 3900. Where the hell did the extra 200 pounds come from, if Ford can make a good chassis like the S197 weight in at 3500 there isn't any reason the Camaro should be 3900. Weight is the enemy of all performance cars and like Thisblood147 asked..."how is the turn in on the 5th gen Camaro?" this is where weight is a performance killer and no suspension can make up for an overweight car, why does GM spend so much money keeping the Corvette to 3200 to 3300 if suspension can make up for it? Yes the 5th Gen is a good to great car and it is a capable performer, but if GM had knocked 200 pounds out of the car it would have the stuff legends are made of.

The S197 is based off the Jaguar S-Type platform that has been modified, its an all around smaller platform than what the Camaro has. The added weight comes from the much bigger size, bigger wheels, brakes and suspension components, more air bags etc. etc.
I'm hoping if there is a 6th gen Camaro GM will use a smaller platform for it.
