2010 Camaro Wheels/Tires
I am really close to ordering the 2010 Black 2SS M6 with RS package. I am just curious about wheels and tires. Of course, I wouldn't be ordering an SS if I weren't concerned with performance, as well. But usually the first couple things I modify is intake/exhaust, then wheels/tires.
With that said, does anyone have an idea of how wide a wheel/tire package will fit in the rear? Judging from the fact that GM offers it's 21in wheel in 9.5in width, at least a 10in width should go under there pretty nice. But of course, I am interested in getting something a bit wider...maybe a 10.5 or 11in as I had on my Z28. I would assume that you could squeeze an 11in like I had on the Z, but I'm thinking that maybe the rear IRS will have an impact on what will go back there.
Can anyone or anyone with a 2010 SS chime in on what they think may fit based on eyeballing the rear? And please post any pics of 2010s with wheels.

The LS7 Sema car has 20x10 rims, and they were able to fit 305/35/20 tires on there. Don't know how much more room there is beyond that. Info from GM high tech performance magazine.
Personally, I wonder if this car would look good with a smaller diameter wheel/tire combo. Maybe go down to 19's and a smaller tire diameter. This would help the gearing and take some of the weight out from the gigantic tires. My only concern is whether it will fill the wheelwells right as the tire gets smaller, and what size rims will fit over the brakes.

Yeah, I had the same thought about a smaller diameter wheel. I had 18in CCWs on my 98 Z28 and would love to mount some 19s on the 2010. 19in is the largest size CCW has in the 5-lug pattern. I think 19x11 or 19x12 would be KILLER!

Yeah, I saw those on the Chevy website when configuring my Camaro. They don't do anything for me at all. But yes, I was thinking the same thing...if they are factory 9.5 inches wide, then I woudl imagine you could go up to an inch more. I hope this is the case, because imagining the 2010 with a nice 10.5-11inch in the rear pretty much gives me a boner!

GM just didn't set them up with the intention of drag racing though.
So I guess we aren't going to be bolting up any 15 inch wheels on these cars.
What do the C5 guys do? They have gone from 17/18 to 18/19.
How are they drag racing them?

That black vette from Vette Doctors that ran 8's was on 16x10.5x28 slicks. Think there is any way to mount a 16" rim? If not it will have to be a tall *** tire to be able to get any real sidewall on it.

i just saw a link somewhere today that showed a G8 running 305s in the rear. they had to roll the fenders like you do in a gto if you plan on having any passengers or launching your car. My buddy has a gto running 275 bfg kdw which run wide so its like a 285. his fenders are rolled and he will still cut a tire if he has people in the car and he takes off fast.
so to make 305s fit on the g8 it needed...
1.) Rolled Fenders (dont know how far you have to roll them)
2.) Cut out a section of the wheel well liner
3.) Relocate the brake line snap on the wheel well liner
it will probably be similar mods on the camaro. mini tubs anyone?
