Default cam spec question

Hey Guys,
I got a quote from a local shop today for a cam and wanted to see what your opinion was on the specs of the cam. Here is all the work involved.

First let me level set by sharing the current mods on my car.

1 7/8 XSpower long tubes with cat delete connection pipes
Borla "s" type catback 2.5"
Jannetty Tune

As for the quote, this is what it includes:
3 bolt cam 225/230 .617 / .612 112 LSA
Remove and
Replace Camshaft, Requires
DOD/VVT Delete Lit and
Installation-Remove and Replace
Lifters,Valley Cover, Head Gaskets
Naturally Aspirated Electronic Fuel
Injection Tuning
GM VVT Delete kit-Engine Front
Cover Gasket

DOD Delete Kit-LS7 Lifters,
Valley Cover, Lifter Trays, Head Bolts
Camshaft, Pushrods, Double Valve
Springs, Valve Seats, Valve Seals,
Water Pump Gaskets, Timing Cover

Curious if anyone else has a cam like this and what are your thoughts on how it will behave as a daily driver.

That's a good sized cam that should give strong power under the curve. The chop will be pretty noticeable and you'll definitely need a solid driveability tune. No big deal for a pro, but perhaps beyond the scope of a first time tuner.

Thanks for the feedback Patrick. Forgive me for asking for this but, what do you mean by under the curve? I'm a noob to this stuff. Also, does efi allow for trans tuning?

He means area under the power curve (think dyno sheet).. Alot of people get bogged down on trying to reach the highest peak HP & TQ numbers they can. In reality it is best to have as flat of a curve as possible: meaning youre putting down good power throughout the RPM range instead of having to rev the engine to the moon to make reasonable power

For what its worth, torque curves by nature are 'flatter' than HP curves

basic example

Hope this help,
Nick

Thanks for the under the curve illustration nichoLaS1.

EFI Live does superb trans tuning for the Gen 5 Camaros.
