That Camaro doesn't look to be a feather-weight either
I'm not too concerened with the powerplant. Have you seen what the guy's at Chrysler are offering their customers? 500+ HP V10 Truck's. 500+HP V10 Vipers 400+HP family sedan's? It's rediculous. Chrysler offers more V8 options than Ford/GM combined !
CLICK HERE TO SEE FOR YOURSELF !!
Make no mistake. The Challenger WILL have a 450-500HP HEMI option. Lights out for the Camaro.

I can guarentee you righ now, GM is going to hype the hell out of this new Camrao. I can see it now. Adds everywhere saying "THE RETURN OF THE CAMARO!!!!!!!" or "THE PONY CAR RETURNS!!!! or something along those lines.
They're going to milk the "Camaro" name plate for all it's worth. It's inevitable. It will happen. Just like with the GTO and the ZO6, dealerships are also going to be over-chargeing. Don't be surprised to see $5,000-$10,000 mark-ups just to have the "NEW CAMARO!!!!!"
Don't think for a second they're not going to be jacking up the price on this car. Independent rear suspension? Dual exhaust? It will only add to the cost.
I'm willing to bet the Challenger will cost less, regardless of the engine option (okay, maybe not for the full blown HEMI )
Besides, it's so much cooler to say you drive a HEMI CHALLENGER !!

Screw retro... by the time the camaro comes out the stang will have been on the road for 3-4 years! The camaro will look dated before it even hits the showroom floor.
I was really hoping chevy wouldnt buy into the retro thing... oh well, i guess all i can hope for now is an LS7 option and low curb weight.

My opinion is that it looks sick as ****. Yeah many of you don't like it as i can tell from the posts, but figure this its the first concept model. Many things are going to change between now and production. This is just a starting point and i really like where its heading. Hopefully the Z28 can have the LS2 and the SS maybe a de-tuned LS7 But i doubt it, but anything can happen between now and production remember that.

PS: I say good job GM.

every1 who is ripping on that car is a retard
that car is dead sexy. instead of being a retro ***** like ford and dodge chevy incorporated the curves of the 1st gen camaros but made it very modern at the same time. when im done with school i wouldnt be surprised seeing myself buying one. that or an audi rs4

Thank you! The Challenger has a 6 inch longer wheelbase and is 11.8 inches longer overall and is estimated to weigh 4100 pounds. The new Camaro will be no light weight for sure, but I cant see how in the hell it will be even close to the Challenger.

Exactly, by the time this car hits the streets it will be dated, and the last into the segement behind the Mustang and Challenger.
The styling looked better in the clay model, they managed to screw up the front end, grill looks weird, slit scoop...., rest of the car looks right besides the retro interior. That needs to get changed to a modern guage layout and guages asap.
We can only hope the car will be lighter than the Dodge and have similar power. From the looks though it will be right there with the dodge and mustang, 3500lbs+ easy.
Let me just say I want this car to appeal and sell better than the Mustang or Challenger, because I am deep into the LS1 community and F-bodies. That's why it has to be above and beyond the competition when it rolls out late to the party. No ones going to be to be running the Chevy dealer for a "similar mustang rippoff that's 4 years older than the mustang".

I love the challenger look. I love the camaro look even more.
I am happy to see that here at home we will offer strong peformance competition against the import guys who through forced induction have made some strong performing ,albeit ricey, cars. I don't like the stang but I would choose one any day over an evo/impreza/dsm etc. Its nice to see that we are getting some strong performers from mopar, ford, and gm hopefully the guy who doesn't like the camaro will buy a stang or challenger rather than going oversees for performance. I however am impressed by the camaro and would love to be the owner of a new one. Long live the rumble of an American V8
