I'm thinking about an LS2 already... but I'll probably go to an LS6. These cars couldn't depreciate much more... come on, they're already cheapers than a Kia for the most part. And what do I have to worry about? My SS already has 185,000 miles on it... it's probably worth about as much as a really good lap dance... lol.

I'd never own a stang, but i'd buy an 03/04 over a shelby...even at the same price!

Detroit news reported that mustang sales are down 33% since last year. Ford is trying to spruce up the car a little by 2009 when the camaro comes out. Ask yourself about the previous retro models of cars. For instance, the vw bug, ford thunderbird, pt cruiser, and the chevy ssr. All were instant hits at the auto shows but fell on there face when released. People get tired of the retro look fast. Ford has a chance to really make Chevy look stupid if they redesign the mustang to a great looking modern style in 2009. I don't think that will happen, and I hope it doesn't. I am a GM fan through and through. Plus I work there! I just believe that retro isn't the answer to sell a car.

The main reason I would think the ls1's would take a hit in price is because of the power plant in the new camaro's. I mean I actually am starting to really like the lt1's but you see how ppl treat them compared to the ls1's and they are really only around 40hp less right? The new camaro compared to the ls1 though will have about a 100hp dif., I think that will really help bump the price's down on the ls1's, but who knows...

I'll just keep my Fourth Gen for now. Haven't adjusted to the new styling of the '09 yet. If I were to purchase a new car in the next 2 years I would be very interested in a new Challenger. I saw a concept car up close and it rocks. The H.P. figures they quoted 2 years ago were 425.

Exatcly All The Bandwagon Jumpers And Dorks Who Cant Afford The 09 Will Buy The 4th Gen Just For The Name Plate! Can You Blame Em? And Really The Pontiacs Are Possibly Going 2 Increase Imo . But We Will Never No Until We Get There Lol !

Good point and well defended.
I think however its a matter of simple economics. Supply and Demand.
Demand for Camaros goes up, thus will the price. I think the new demand for new Camaros will also increase the demand for older 4th gens - it will revitalize the nameplate.

LT1 LS1 swap
people do seem to be doing engine swaps, but it seems stupid to me too unless there is that much more power or something... like the lt1 to ls1 kinda thing. Why don't they just mod the engine they have and save a lot of cash and do more to the engine they have? I can under stand if it's a v6 or something but otherwise, no.
