Seems like everybody’s comment these days, did you hear Lutz's last speech? If not read it http://fastlane.gmblogs.com/archives..._the.html#more (long but very informative)

Maybe the facts will finally reach the surface. GM isn't in the best of shape, but sales of product and quality are up.

Pretty good article. Its true about the sales. Look at the new escalade runnin neck and neck with land rover, mercedes, and BMW as far as quality, power, and value. The new impala offers alot for the price and is now a top three seller next to camry and accord in america. The new GMT900 suvs are constantly getting praise. HHR, Solstice, Sky all selling out. Stats like these need to be made public. I personally know GM has really been pickin up, but everyone i know assumes their days are over. Look at ford, whos cash cow suvs have all been outsold by GM as well as the ranger. All thats left is the F150. and other than the mustang, whats there to really be excited about at ford (excluding GT)

I think this is an example of why GM still has issues. The camaro is buzzing right now. work out a 9 month plan to pump it out. Otherwise, itll be another loss. And now dodge has a sigh of relief

Neither of those things make a significant difference between now and 2010. What they need are profits. You can sell a billion cars and still not make enough profit to stay alive. And quality doesn't sell cars off the showroom floor--it makes return buyers out of existing customers. That's a long term move (and needed) but it will not make money in the short term when GM needs it.

What GM has to do is get their operating costs down to get their margins up--then quit making pointless business ventures with the profits.

That's a long wait. How come Toyota can roll out the FJ Cruiser so quick?

I work for a Chevrolet Dealership, so I know first hand about how well GM has turned around the quality of thier product lines.

But, when it comes to competing with FOMOCO and DC for sales in the ponycar market...

GM = DAY LATE, DOLLAR SHORT.

What I mean is, for every day the Camaro is not available for sale, Ford sells X # of Mustangs, and if Dodge comes out with the Challenger when they are said to, GM will lose possible Camaro sales to DC as well.

How can that possibly be good?

Does anyone feel that is an unfair criticism of GM policy?

So far this is just continued speculation.

GM High Tech is a nice magazine, but it's lead time is months, perhaps weeks for a breaking item.

AutoWeek is a weekly magazine, and no mention of this in it, nor on the internet, nor any other TV or print source.

So far, this looks like hype/wishful thinking on the part of GM High Tech.

This thread is hilarious... or is it? Look at the reaction to this "news".

There is ZERO credibility to that report, ZERO. Some of you need to realize just how out of touch these magazines can be.

No magazine is going to scoop the announcement of Camaro production. That will be a staged media event, much as the unveiling was in Detroit back in January.

Don't believe everything you read.

Mgazine lead time is 2-3 months, this print info is based on speculation from 2-3 months ago.

I wouldn't trust it one bit.

A couple of years ago, Hot Rod Magazine announced that Chevrolet was going to build a 2WD regular cab Silverado SS w/ no power options and a T56. They even said that pricing was going to be under $30k. We all see how that turned out.

Even if the magazines are given good information from a reputable source, there's still plenty of time for the General to change it's collective mind. I'd really like to see it happen, but I've been let down soooooo many times that I'm not getting my hopes up.
