I say they do it like the good ol days. Make the z/28 a road race car with IRS and make the SS more for straight line speed with bigger motor and solid rear end.

It would have V6 looks and Nasty performance, just like the ZL1 Camaro's of long ago.
Thinking about the history and introduction of the SS line, 09' Camaro's may be named the ZL1 RS or something along the line of the RS badge due to its trim package. Considering the history of how GM kept playing catch up with Mustangs, the Z28 was the answer in an RS. While initial ZL1's ran 10.41 out of the box it was only attractive to a small group of buyers - the hole GM keeps stepping in time after time. The key is Z28's have versatility with gas mileage - something few others can lay claim to now and particularly in the future. The proved that by surviving the 70's gas crunch with the IROC-Z28.

Who knows. They may actually take a chance on using the "Panther" name for the SuperVette and put the Z28 RS out to see what the field is like for first year sales.

SS would be the performance model, but the Z would top it with a lightweight, limited options (no vert, manual only) highest performance model.
They both have racing heritage. To me SS= drag racing, Z28 = road racing

you said it man

/agree. Retain the SS > Z/28 setup from the 4th gen. It just makes more sense to me, and this is how Chevy brands their top-of-the-line trims. Minus the Corvette, of course. To people these days, "Z/28" probably means very little compared to "SS".

why not ZL2? or well, i wouldnt mind SS, but it seems like everything that is chevy and has some "extra" stuff is an SS, and id like to see chevy actually make it independant, like there is the ws6 AND the firehawk, both UNIQUE to the vehicle, same with the corvette, but the camaro only gets Z/28 to have as its unique name, why not somthing like S/R (sport racer) being as, its most likely going to be a track car

IMO there should be a V6 car to get the sales figures, then a base V8 that we dont really even have to give a name to... maybe call both of them RS. Then the Z28 and SS would have options for an LS7 and an LS2 or L98, whichever one is available. Also Z28 would mean independent rear, lighter, and better suspension, SS would mean solid rear, stiffer suspension and built to handle abuse. I mean, cmon, we are a little more abusive than the vette drivers so we gotta have that right?

It should be "Z-28" as it was for the top of the line model Camaro in the 60s. The SS name is too common on too many cars (trucks) today. The name "Z-28" carries a stronger heritage to the Camaro.

If they could come out with the rebirth of the original Z car, the Z28, that would be a great ad. Alot have tried like the 240 Z, 300ZX and now 350Z but nobody can touch the Z28...cept Z06. Only elite rides should wear Z

Easy :Type-R
or IROC-GTR
Maybe Z28 S spec?

I think we should know what comes with it before we name it and how many trims we will get. It would kind of be silly in my eyes if we got just 1 trim being a 6 and an 8
To call the one a z28/iroc etc and the other SS/ZL1 etc.

Lets know whats coming first.

AS PREVIOUSLY STATED BY ME:

For the Camaro you could have a base V6, then a V8 car, then the Z28 and SS, these 2 would have the flash and finally a Super Camaro, something along the lines of a ZL1. It would have V6 looks and Nasty performance, just like the ZL1 Camaro's of long ago. Of course you would have to custom order it, that way you could get what you wanted. Dont want A/C, no problem, V6 trim & body panels, no problem, NOTHING that makes the car look fast, NO PROBLEM!

THERE IS YOUR TRIM PACKAGES. Hell the Crustang has like 7 different models so why can't the Camaro have 5?

Z28 should be the top model.

Any Chevy can be an SS. Only a Camaro can be a Z28.

Where is the GM backing to this, not meant rudly I'm just saying I've yet to see anything proving we will get 2 trims more or less etc.

i think it should be SS. it does mean super sport!! id be more than happy to see a base model v6, a 350hp ls1 in a CHEAP Z28 for people who want a nice out of the box setup, a SS ls2 for more power and better handling, and a limited edition SS\RS hard top 6spd ls7 thats a kick *** all around race car.

From a Mustang owners standpoint the Z28 has been on many many body styles and engine combos. They use the Z24 on the older cavalier "things". The SS on the new Cobalt/Cavalier is only on their because of the supercharging we all know that. The Silverado based SS truck is a powerful truck.

Now. When was the last time anybody saw the RS label on the Camaro. That, along with the SS, was the badging to have on your Camaro during Chevy's glory days. Why not use the RS for that and save the SS for a supercharged model (that would be sweet).
