I'm sorry, but I leaned to hate Fords at an early age by working on them. I found Fords to be the most backward engineered, awkward motorized vehicles that I ever ran across(ign. on the left, dist up front, industrial a/c compressor, backward firing order, etc) and I guess the bad taste in my mouth stuck...I still feel that way (i.e. 4.6 OHC vs. 5.7-6.0 OHV).

Not to mention that I could out run GT's and Saleens during the 80's-Mid 90's with my Mazda, on and off the track.

And what about that Mustang II ???

Who could respect a car like that?

Ford was first on the block by 3 years and the Mustang has always been easier to live with on a daily basis than the f-body. That is why Ford sells more.

I have owned 1 Fox bodied Mustang and 3 f-bodies. I always preferred the f-body, but the Mustang is a better DD.

Again, GM is late to the game and the car will be watered down by the bean counters to maximize profit.

Remember: GM is in the business of making money, not cars.

This tool needs to research the facts a little (read: look at them at all) before writing an article.
Boy did he make himself look stupid!

Plus I will tell you right now that it is a pain in the *** to have two cams. You have to dial the cams in seperately with adjustable cam gears. That takes a lot of time to find the winning combo.
Even worse on the supercharged cobras now. they have 4 cams. one for intake and the other exhaust on each head. The cost for the cams range from $1500 to 1800 and good luck trying find one to install those.

Many people who have mustangs or love are mustang enthusiasts don't know much knowledge about the earlier f-bodies. I swear many people think that mustangs are faster than the f-bodies. Like this guy at work just bought a new 06 mustang and he was bragging on how much he had in the box. "this puppy gots 300hp right of the box." I was laughing in his face. I said it was about time that ford finally reached the 300hp mark. He didn't believe me that the z28 came w/ 310hp which supposely GM claim to have. I've raced plenty of 00-04 GTs w/ bolt ons and they're surpised that a stock ls1 fbody blows them away. Anything what is funny is when you read auto mags and always see the mustangs in the same group w/ the eclipse or some other import.

Ok has anyone seen the GT500. It will be a major obstacle for the Camaro. There's a reason GM is losing money by the billions! They always find a way to screw things up and I'm confident they will work their magic on the Camaro. Oh well, we can always hope.

yep.. i seen all 2 tons of it, i seen it lose every performance test to a car with 100 less horsepower..

i also see the possibility of the camaro having the LS7, or it's successor, destroying the GT500 with more horsepower and less weight

Woops looks like I bought a failed product.
Oh wait a minute I knew before the product showed up in the US that it would be a limited production run and nothing more. But I did atleast wait for the LS2.
15mpg... nope try an average of 18 with a lead foot and a person that drives it like he stole it... damn fun ride the GTO.

Marketing Failure not really, Pontiac was putting more into the little sports car called Solstice (which is to small for me).
I've had 4 fbodies, 1 gto, 2 trucks, and a 75 nova... never owned a mustang worked on a few and it just wasn't for me.

Will I trade the GTO in when the new ones come out... Nope may ****** one of the L92 based motors though

Some of his points do have a minor bit of validity, but not much.
To many Editors think its okay in this day and age to be biased. That is one of the major reasons I quit buying magazines and reading articles from people that are opinonated and don't list the whole truth.

Oh and yeah Ford was 3 years ahead with the first mustang but wasn't it based on the Cougar/Tbird frame of that time (alot of similarites under the body and around the frame rails). Ford's real good at taking one vehicle and cutting it up and making a supposedly new vehicle.

One of Ford's biggest disappointments is going to be the fact that the Cobra will not be able to go after the Corvette as it will be dualing it out with the GTO and SS Z28.

Two things you have to remember:
1. You will actually be able to buy a GT500
2. Although some would see the benefits of putting the LS7 in a SS Camaro, GM won't be one of them.

I noticed it had a pretty similar price to the C6 in the magazine comparison I read, it was 2-3 grand cheaper if I remember correctly.

Are you serious..... Dont know about you but I would much rather see a MUSTANG on the road than a HONDA

You are so out in left field buddy.... So maybe when they do "if" come out with the camaro "LS7" it will out perform the GT500 but right now the GT500 has no competition. And by the time "if" the Ls7 camaro does come out ford will prob have their hurricane engine ready to be put in production. Also the name will sale I mean "Shelby GT500" or a "Camaro LS7" ..... which one would a broad range of people know and want? Just my opinion but i think its a good one. I mean the camaro really has always outperformed the stang but when it comes down to it.......the mustang sells period.

Ford's top model is the Mustang. GM's top model is the Corvette. Corvette was first. Mustang followed. Enough said.

I'm sorry, but your point on the name is just stupid. If Chevy does put an LS7 in the Camaro, they will NOT call it "Camaro LS7" (that sounds flat out stupid). If they have plans to do that, they will call it the SS.

Oh excuse me Well then SS or Shelby GT500..... is that better, and if you think that the point on the name is stupid, then I guess you know absolutetly nothing on how to sale something. Name is everything when it comes to making money. For the guy with the corvette post..... i agree to a degree but the corvette is in another class.
