maybe Bumblebee starts out looking like the "before" picture, then gets rebuilt to look like the "after" one?

Yes, from the stories i hear, Bumblebee starts out as the second gen, and get's trashed pretty bad, then get's a rebuild, and voila! We have a 5th gen Bumblebee.

i think it just appears that way because the H part is lighter silver. look at the old symbol, you can barely even notice it has an H in it.
