NO!!! Why would we ever have paddle shifters. All we need are powerglides, solid axles, and no A/C.

Yeah true, those big block Chevelles and GTOs with their ghey TH350s and TH400s, the weaklink C4 & C6 backed Ford 428s and 429s and of course all those Hemi cars with the puney little 727 Torqueflites that couldn't get out of their own way!

Yeah I know, I can't get over the fact that Wiegert would DARE to have the AUDACITY to put an AUTOMATIC behind their Vector W8...it just TOTALLY made that car slow!

Or how about that crappy SLR McLaren....f#cking slushboxes ruining everything!

I will not be buying an A6 Camaro but if I did I would not want any stupid paddles to shift with. Just use the stick or "gasp" let the automatic shift for you, isn't that what you buy an automatic for anyways? I still don't know if I'm happy or not even about the IRS. Keep costs down, screw the useless junk.

What's wrong with IRS? The Corvette has been using it since the beginning and the Corvette (especially the Z06) handles incredibly well.

Both the manual and autos have there place. To me having a manual can be a theft devise.....how many of the cars the low lifes steal have a manual, so they have no place to learn to drive one. Autos are great for consistant Drag times, but if you like to go around corners the manual is still king. Autos just don't seem to like the abuse of driving in deep while downshifting, builds alot of heat, why do you think BMW and Ferrari spent a ton of money to make a paddle/auto shifting manual rather than just putting in an auto? I love the feeling of being connected to the car that a manual trans gives, autos no matter how good feel disconnected, but on the local strip the manual requires alot more driver skill where any monkey can manually shift an automatic down the track. My drag car have a TH400 (had a 700 but lost 4th) but with the loss of another track in the So Cal area I maybe switching to a TKO600 over the 4L80E. The TKO in my Chevelle is way too much fun

GM just please give the owner the option of a Manual, don't drop it like the industry has been doing....PLEASE! Those that want the A6 with paddle shifters thats fine with me, just don't force me to take one that is all I say.

I assmue you're being funny? In my opinion the weak link in todays cars start with leather, power windows, and A/C. These items you surely don't need in a performance vehicle.

I couldnt be happier with my A6. I will never get stuck in a race with my clutch pedal stuck to the floor on the 3rd powershift. The A6 even feels stronger than the M6 C6 I test drove.

Diablo will have TCM support in the soon released Diablo flash as well.

I'm with you except for the A/C. You must have A/C in Phoenix or any place like it in the summer.

Ok so it's hot there. Naturally I have question. I think it was 1953, on a Caddy, when I saw big tubes on either side of back shelf and was told that was A/C. Prior to 1953 were there cars in your area?

Why the hell would you want paddle shifters in the Camaro? The idiots at GM come up with crap like sound control volume and traction control that is on unless you remember to push the button. And we the consumer pay for crap like this or express windows wether you want them or not. For GM to develop paddle shifters for the Camaro it will take R&D money that they will tack on to the cost of every car.

I'd take a new Camaro in black, no Z28 badging (COPO look), LS3, 6 speed, 16 inch steel cop style wheels with hubcaps in the trunk, and a drag option that gives you a 4.10 rear, Z06 clutch, oil cooler, and deletes sound deadening, stereo, and power windows and steering. Give it a price of 23k out the door and I'll add Drag Radials and proceed to kick *** in my lightweight stripper Camaro. Just like it should be available to those who don't need power adjustable seats etc. I bet every one that was like that would sell.

Thing is, people like you would buy them, but there are many many out there who like the extras. Not everyone is a minimalist. I'd go nuts now without power windows, just makes things a tad nicer and easier.

All the stuff that you mention are options ... if ya don't want T/C then don't order it that way....The R&D work has already been done a few years back for the paddle shift...it is nothing but some switching...it is in the Corvette, and the new Malibu there really is not much to it...what you want is the exception rather than the rule..just a FYI for ya the power window assembly is lighter than the hand crank window assembly...hubcaps what the phuch are hubcaps...don't see a lot of those anymore...4.10 gears are not happening that is for shure..ever hear of the CAFE law....that is corporate average fuel economy ... climb out of your 1969 time capsule and welcome in the 21 century dude...PS 16 inch wheels are not in the program anymore either .. If you want a real race car ... build one ... don't expect GM to build you one ...

I understand that - I think originally the thread was started making fun of shifters on the directional wheel of the new Camaro. So, I made the comment about the way cars have changed over the years. Why not go back to basics?

I've almost been here a year. I have many attitudes about different things for many different reasons. Until today, you've never heard me say your car isn't worth much until you've put it up on your rear bumper, often. But most folks at LS1 haven't experienced that. NOT KNOCKING ANYONE.

F-1 and several other forms of real race cars have this feature don't they? Glad to see the new Camaro stepping up!!

i drove a VW Golf GTI Fahrenheit Edition with the actual DSG tranny and im not going to lie, that was a blast. so was launch control! but i wouldnt want to see it on the 5th gen cuz it wouldnt be a DSG type system. it would be an auto based instead of a manual based. more like a Kia slapstick than a F430 Scuderia's or 599's box. but that said, i think it would appeal greatly to alot of ppl as a sort of novelity item. i loved it on the golf jsut cuz its fun and then you can throw it back to auto when you want. probably would sell well on the v6 model.

just my 2 cents

I just moved from Phoenix, my Firebird and my Camaro didn't have A/C. It made me appreciate the T-tops!

Haha, I've done that too, back in the day, but I'm not doing it again for my daily driver. Maybe if I go front mount turbo on my 4th gen with a TTI kit later on I might give up the A/C. It wouldn't be bad because it would only see cruising and track duty.

Just a crazy idea, but maybe they actually are developing a proper DSG or like tranny and THAT is what is taking the car so long to get to market...

Pinch yourself and wake up..As much as I would like to see it happen a sequintial transmission will never go into any GM car ahead of the Corvette..that would **** off a lot of ZR1 and Z06 owners who paid big bucks for their cars ... there is a pecking order and the 5th generation Camaro is not at the top sir...
