Target weight is supposed to be under 3600 from what I've heard.
I'd be happy with that.

I'd like to see a special edition that has been lightened. Probably with some aluminum quarter panels and maybe some carbon fiber pieces, especially on the interior. A carbon fiber hood would be really awesome. You could easily drop 200 lbs doing this. 3600 becomes 3400. Now all I need is a diet.

Its amazing that at this day and age car makers have to struggle to get a performance vehicle under 3500lbs.

Well, when you consider all the safety laws and government regulations, there's a bunch of extra stuff that has to go into cars now, hence why they're getting heavier.

That said, they still can make cars fairly light, but lightweight materials have to be just as strong as their heavier counterparts to pass the aforementioned regulation.
And that comes at a price.
Only the Z06 has carbon-fiber body panels and balsa wood floors, and look at its price tag.

Wow, that's light from what most if i've heard it was planning to be more. like 2 ton ish.

Hope it's nice and light, I doubt it but even lighter thena 4th gen would be nice.

I like feeling of a lighter car. No matter handling etc, you know a car is heavy.

Well, GM does offer the Corvette. It's under 3500 lbs for around 55K and carries one passenger.

A Pro stocker including driver needs to weight 2400, I think. It's a tubing frame unit with a project weight of 1,000#

Wasn't the weight of the previous Camaro 3,500 + lbs.

With the 400 to 500 hp. everyone would like to see the car produce won't it need a stronger chassis?

The SSR ended up being almost 1,000 more than it's projected weight. It was built from a modified Trailblazer chassis.

Side Air Bags will almost be a must for a 2009 unit. Again more weight than the last Camaro.

I doubt that Mr. Lutz knows. My guess is approximately 3850# unless it comes with an aluminum hood and deck.

Chrysler just go sold, Ford lost Billions and Billions, Chevrolet can't afford to build a loser.

Someone wiser than me needs to see what the weight of a NASCAR stock car is.

He did a pretty good job photo-shopping, BUT, he forgot to take your driveway out. You can see it out the passenger side window

Whats the average weight for the 4th gens, because the other day i was arguing with a salesman at a chevy dealership. he said our cars are pigs and showed me the sticker on the door. I couldnt believe my eyes it said 4200 pounds, is this right? i thought our cars were around 3700. I pray for the new camaro to be around that, if were lucky.

Indeed that 4200 is the GVW.

I have a 91 V6 T-top automatic F-Body GVW 4181

06 Mustang V6 automatic GVW 4340

05 GTO manual LS-2 GVW 4491

05 Ford Focus cp auto GVW 3670

05 Avalanche 4X4 GVW 7000

For this very reason many people only drag race with a 1/4 or less tank of gas as well as all the JUNK removed from their vehicle. 200# is normally associated with a 1/10 of a second in the 1/4 mile.

4th Gens range from ~3350 to ~3750 depending on model and options.

My 2001 Z28 weighed 3567lbs in factory form.
