SCOTUS makes price contracts between manufacturers and dealers legit
SCOTUS stated at the end of this week that it is no longer illegal for manufacturers and dealerships to sign contracts (K's) fixing the price of their products (very dumbed down word of mouth version of what they said...have not read the case yet). That means our new camaro's will be able to cost exactly what they are advertised for. Thank God for the Roberts Ct and K law!!!

What the supreme court said was that a manufacturer can set a MINIMUM price for it goods and not sell to retailers that will not abide with this MINIMUM price. The case was Leegin Creative Leather Products v PSKS Inc. You can read the case at http://www.supremecourtus.gov/opinions/06pdf/06-480.pdf

This has nothing to do with dealers charging a "market adjustment" over MSRP. There is no end in sight for that ****. The bottom line is this; many of us will have to travel a distance to find a dealer that sells cars based on high volume, not just gross profit alone. If I have to drive 500 miles to save $3000 on the new Camaro...fine.

Some people are willing to pay it, doesn't mean they are stupid, if you both have say 55k for the first week camaro, you say i'm not paying more then sticker and he will.. he gets to look cool when you are waiting, might be worth it to him.
I'd like to hear more info on what really is happening if anything.

No...things may stay the same, but GM does have the option of making its dealerships K for a certain price for certain cars. Thus, a grass roots movement started by folks like us could esure we pay MSRP in two years. I read it in the Jun 29th WSJ. Will look it up in westlaw or lexisnexis next week.

i know people pay markups. and thats stupid. people paid out the *** for GTOs when the first came out. i waited and got a better deal. i'll wait it out again when camaros come back out. theres nothing cool about overpaying for any car imo.
