Camaro engine info leak!!! "Saleen: I hope I don't get in trouble with GM for saying this, but they're using a 6.2 liter 450 horsepower engine for the premium V8 in the 2009 Camaro and the base Corvette. The base V8 will probably be a detuned version of the same 6.2. So we'll just upgrade the 6.2 liter V8 to Saleen level specifications. We're going to upgrade the 6.2 liter V8 if we're given the legal chance by GM. Our base model should have around 485 horsepower, and expect our Extreme Supercharged Camaro to have over 600 horsepower."

yea, more like 425. I think. 380 rwhp on that a4 2008 C6 I believe. M6 will be better, though. Still, maybe a "2001 LS6 vs 2002 LS6" maybe in the works; like a valvetrain upgrade or cam spec change to make that "450". I love the liberal publishing of power ratings between the vehicles. Or maybe in 2009 the corvette somehow makes "450" over the camaro's "425".

GM is a drama queen of the car industry. I wish GM will tells us now before everyone finds a new shiny object to spend money on. Specs dont just satisfy curiousity; but also tells me how much money it is and allows to me to justify paying for it or not.

1) Saleen will make a faster (though we're not sure how much faster) car that looks wicked (or not). It will likely be overpriced, but I bet that he'll have more to work with hp-wise with the LS3 compared to the Ford 4.6 Mod motors he's working with now and worked with in the past. 2) Sales for the Camaro will be higher with a dedicated umm... tuner(?)... like Saleen. If there are Saleen Camaros next to regular Camaros in Chevy dealer lots, whatever gets sold is still a Camaro, and sales will increase. More variety = more sales.
More people aroud me are drivng Saleen mustangs then they are GT's. Anything to boost the sales up i guess would be great for Chevy. We need to kick fords *** in sales also remember. The average person/general public who wants this type of car says "I want a Mustang" becuase its just like a classic original car in America, it like a name brand that stick. If the Camaro can take that over where I hear the general public say "I want a Camaro" then you know the job has been done

they realy need to hurry up and make a good solid camaro they are taking for ever. the new stang has been out since 05 and then they are going to have another one soon. Gm is slacking big time.

The Saleens with blowers, the S281E-supercharged(IIRC), is a really nice driving car. The base model Saleens, not so much. Saleen can make some pretty decent tuner cars, but you'll have to pay for them! Don't expect the $30K ones lined up in front of your local Ford dealorship to perform like the top dog(a car easily capable of BURYING the GT500.)
