Agreed, my baby was just totaled and im waiting for 09s but unless im running with the gt500 or better i wont get one. Camaros were made to compete with mustang why would GM not put us in the ring with them.

I know you feel. It's been 2 years since mine was totalled, hoping to get back in the game with the new one but if I get news that it's going to have anything less than the LS3 and more than 3600 lbs. I think I'll get a C5 Z06 instead.

Yeah, the LS7 will be axed in production cars come 2009 or whenever the high performance SS or whatever comes out. I would like to see 450-500 hp in the high performance model though, whatever it may be.

Or possibly a cheaper F/I route would be fine, just as long as the motor doesn't carry a 'Blue Devil' tax on it.

Edit: What motor is the next Gen ZO6 slated to have? That would be a great motor to shoehorn into the 2010 (2nd year, 5th gen) Camaro; not too expensive like the Blue Devil, but a HP bump above what the base C6/7/Camaro V8 come equipped with to put a hurting on the GT500.

For one, they won't be making the ls7 much longer. Secondly, the ls3 is dynoing close to 400whp in the new vets. Thats close to 100 more whp than f body's of yor and it surely won't weigh 1000 more lbs. It will be just fine Especially since cam and bolt on 08 vets are making 500rwhp

I think the new V8 Motor in the camaro will be the LS2. Because Again, GM does not want to camaro to beat the corvette, thats why they came out with the LS3 in 2008. Think about it. LS2 for Camaro. This will be like a trial period for the camaro. Then say 2 yrs later LS3 or LS7.

I would not count on the LS2 or LS7 as they are at the end of production in 2008.

**** the L76 I want an LS3...However, I am really on the fence about this car with an LS3 or not if it weighs more than 3500 lbs. It is really aggrevating that they cannot keep a low weight on this new car. If the new Stang still weighs close to 3500 lbs with the new ohv engine in it...that might be the best bet. Or get a Challenger which is designed to be a big car.

Quit your bitching. An LS3 is enough for a Camaro. Either take the strip down V8 model and mod the hell out of it or go buy the new Z07. If GM wanted another Corvette, they would have made one. You can't have 2 exotics in the GM lineup.

I hope you don't mean 3 V8 engines. That would be a money-losing deal for Chevy. I can see the LS3 having a base model, a Z/28, and an SS. Options as in On-Star and **** like that. They'll probably pick up where they left off with the way they handled the SS and Z/28 last go-around.

I read in a Chevy magazine back in the start of July, that Chevy was going to have 3 V6 options and 2 V8 options. Now maybe they will only have 1 V8 at the launch, but I do hope the LS9 will put into Camaro production before too long.

I'm tired of the cocky Shelby GT500 fans and their crappy live rear axle

Vette thru IRS put down 389.5 RWHP stock with the LS3 NA
With mods it made 506.7 RWHP

GT500 thru live axle put down 435 RWHP stock with supercharger
Does anyone have some RWHP of a modded GT500?

http://www.dragtimes.com/blog/2008-c...3-dyno-results

"Next up was the car with the 6 speed manual transmission. The manual transmission was more efficient and put down 389.5 horsepower and 377.4 pounds of torque. These are very impressive numbers from both cars, easily beating Chevrolet’s published numbers of 430HP and 424 pounds of torque. Using a conservative drivetrain loss of 17-18%, these cars are pushing over 450 horsepower."

"LG put added longtube headers, performance cam, ported intake, K&N aircharger, under drive pulley and a custom tune to one of the cars and added over 100HP to the wheels. The car now prodcues 506.7 HP and 457.1 tq"

GM would be committing the same mistake they did with the 04 GTO.

Why buy a 350hp car when the next year you can get a 400 HP car.

I hope there are at least 2 V8 engine choices and 1 heavy hitter.
Why bother purchasing the 1st year car when you can get a better car the next year. Go big and go big early.

If that blog from dragtimes is correct, the LS3 Camaro should have no problem, especially if GM feels there is enough weight difference that they don't need to detune the Camaro's LS3
