Production info!
Ah, another tidbit coming straight from the horse's mouth.
Bob Boniface, a head designer at GM involved with Camaro, shared a tidbit about production details at the Camaro Superfest earlier this month:
October 2008 is the month when approximately 30 Camaros will first roll off the assembly line, and in the following months they will continue to ramp up production until the January 2009 release.
Although engine sizes are a secret, tenatively there are three engines set to be in the lineup for the initial release: 2 V6s and 1 V8.
Horsepower numbers are not known.
October 2008!
And so the countdown begins!
This is OctaneZ28's post over on 5thgen.org!
It's not a whole lot of info, but at least it's SOMETHING.

The FACTS "sticky" was updated last night.

Methinks there will be more to come in subsequent model years.

FWIW, the 2009 model year will be a short one, as production of 2010 models (including the convertible) will begin in July 2009.

Or possibly a cheaper F/I route would be fine, just as long as the motor doesn't carry a 'Blue Devil' tax on it.
Edit: What motor is the next Gen ZO6 slated to have? That would be a great motor to shoehorn into the 2010 (2nd year, 5th gen) Camaro; not too expensive like the Blue Devil, but a HP bump above what the base C6/7/Camaro V8 come equipped with to put a hurting on the GT500.

kevano26 - I don't doubt the LS3 is an amazing engine, I've seen the numbers it's making stock in the vette and with a couple of bolt ons also. ALOT of potential. But you have to figure the camaro will probably be 500 lbs heavier and it takes more to get it going due to weight. I have no problem with the LS3 but if the camaro weighs more than 3600 lbs, there will be a problem for me. (I'm only 165 lbs though so my weight isn't really a factor)
The two V6's out of the new CTS and an LS3 for launch is not shabby at all!!!

L76. Then toward late '09 or early '10 we'll see the LS3. Just a guess but I think GM will
want to get the cars out there as affordable as possible to begin with.
