Performance
How many times have you seen someone at LS1 post the 2009 F will have this or that engine? Or I hope it has this engine because this brand will have that engine? The old F had the LS-1. Bone stock LS-1's with 145K run low 13's. Modified they run quicker.
If you bought a 2008 Z06 with the LS-3 it would run, based on the fact I sell them I've watched them run even with 30 days tags. Bone stock 12.2 to 11.8 based on the track and driver. My son in law has a 2006 Z06 ordered build and delivered in 2005. It's not stock.
The 2009 replacement F isn't going to be that quick......
Chevrolet won't make the factory stock replacement F faster then a factory stock Z06.
I know I am old, some refer to my comments as BLA BLA BLA but if you think I am wrong, forget about me, post your comments.
So, with the above information what do we think the engine in the new 2009 F will be?LS-1 the old engine in the old car low 13's stock? No something bigger!
LS-2 because it's currently installed in the base Corvette. You can buy it in manual or automatic. It's 400 hp. where does that put performance?
LS-3 Will always be in the Z06 until something bigger is built. The Z06 is rated at 14 mpg city 24 highway. GM won't put that engine in another production car, sorry.
So, what does 100 hp do for performance? That's my question today. What do you expect? High to mid 12's is my guess! If that was reality would you be happy? That's the question!
LS-3 like the Z06 but it will be slower because the Z06 is 3100#.
..The regular maros i believe will come with LS3's but "detuned
" so it wont outrun the regular vette
.. These are just my oppinions The Camaro will have the LS3 engine (GM isn't going to revive the dead LS2, put it in the Camaro in '09 just to put the LS3 in 2010)
LS-1, 2, & 3. 3 thats 6.0 right? Or am I wrong there also? What happen to LS-4, 5, and 6? LS7 in the 07 Corvette that came out in 2005 as a 2006, right?
What the hell ever happened to cuin's. Wasn't the 427 considered a big block?

Anyway here is my current guess:
3.6 V6 263 HP LY7
3.6 V6 304 HP LLT
6.0 V8 370 HP L76
6.2 V8 425 HP LS3
The current Z06 has a LS7 NOT a LS3. The LS3 comes in the base Corvette now and was NEVER in a Z06. I think the 2009 Z06 will have a LS9 which is a supercharged 6.2L.
I think the 2009 base corvette with the LS3 will be rated at 450HP.
I think the 2009 LS3 Camaro will be rated at 425HP.
I don't think the LS2 will be around in 2009 in anything.
The Vette will be lighter thus should be faster with the same LS3 engine. No need to detune. The current Vette with the LS3 is underated. I think they will just simply raise the rating on the Vette and keep the Camaro LS3 rating about where the Vette is rated now.

So it is aluminum? I am having trouble confirming whether its aluminum or iron.
