Wow!, I guess if you gave me 15k I might give you the right to be the first to order a Camaro when orders can be placed. I think you're nuts. If the dealer is already taking your money, THE *** CLOWN, how much over sticker are you going to pay?

I'll sell you any new Camaro, any color, any option package, and you'll pay no more than sticker + tax and title.

Why don't you guys have established contacts at dealers?

I work for a big dealership and we have 27 deposits on the knew camaro already. We have big list everyone can view. We dont charge over sticker no matter what car we sell even when the zo6 came out or when the zr1 and camaro come out.

I use to have an established contact at a dealer, but he retired and the dealership has been sold. I've moved to a new location and had trouble finding a half way honest dealer in my area. I did buy a new vehicle in 03 from a local dealer who treated me 150% better than all the others. I'm not saying there aren't good dealers out there, its just hard to find them. I will probably go back to them for the new Camaro unless I find someone better between now and then. I occasionally visit dealerships just to "feel them out". I don't play the old "bait and switch" game, but I do like to play "leave the couple in the office while the salesman goes to another room to listen in on the conversation" game. Its very amusing and tells me a lot about a dealership.

I've never seen a dealer at least around here that will sell a brand new car for "sticker" unless it's an econobox. Mustangs, when camaro's and firebirds were still for sale, corvettes, none would sell for "sticker." I guess I understand if you are a collector that you want a first run camaro and not drive it. But I see for the average person that IS going to drive it like myself I'll wait until they get all the bugs worked out of them.

Wow. My cousin has plans on owning one when they arrive. Wonder if he's on the "waiting list"? Might tell him such a thing does exist if doesn't already know.

The target production number is 150,000..there will be no shortage on these cars unless someone just has to be the first on their block to own one..personally I would not have a first year production car no matter what it is..there are always bugs to work out and there are improvments made in each of the progressing years of production..

When everyone speaks about gas milage and emissions I guess people have forgot about alternative fuels. The government has a lil over a half dozen, as of 1995, patents they have bought from private owners. Any car on the road now adays can be made to get 20-30% better gas milage at the production line if the government would let them. If the gov. released the right for the manufactures to get 35mpg with 450whp stock the gov. would loose a tremendous amount of money. Think of it this way. If the gov. doesn't laz the rules or release rights for better fuel economy in fuel injected, computer controled cars, many sports and plane tickets will be horrendous. My Grandpa was a LTCOL for the army who worked in the pentagon for like 10 years and was givin the assignment to contract american military jobs to the american public so that down the road they can be givin to foreign countries. He declined and retired. He is the type that makes his own diesel and gas on his farm now for like 98 cents a gallon. Numerous diesel ownes are running alternative fuels that burn cleaner and just as efficient. The Camaro will live on as well as the vette. Big block motors will still be produced for rat-rods and american muscle cars, cuz if not the gov. looses to much money in taxes. The tree huggers do not win everything. Oh and I will pay more for my 2011-12 Camaro only if the do a ZL1 or Yenko edition. Everyone knows that equally optioned mustage vs. camaro, the camaro will win hands down. Has been like this from day 1. That is why we pay a lil more, and look better with the tops out.

Base MSRP on a 1998 Mustang GT coupe was $20,150, and by 2002 was $23,220.

Most option prices were also similar (for comparable options, not including stuff like T-tops that Ford didn't offer), yet the auto trans was nearly a $1k option on the Ford but free on the GM, so where's the $5k difference?
Please tell me where you got this info at because when I was researching buying a Camaro in 2002 the base v6 had an MSRP of $20,000. The base Z28 had an MSRP of $25,000. I don't remember the exact dollar amount, but I know I am not far off. If I could have bought a brand new Z for $20,000 me and a whole lot of other people would have been more inclined to buy one. I don't want to get into an arguement because none of this matters now anyways. All I was trying to say is that GM has always priced the f-body higher than the Mustang and that is the reason that the combined sales of the Camaro and Firebird couldn't equal the sales of Mustangs. Most non gearheads wanting a car will look for the best price, hence the reason the Mustang outsold the F-body. I will seriously look at a '10 Camaro Z if they can price it around $25,000. Again I don't want to get into an argument over this, just a friendly discussion.
