If that's what we all think it is, if the V8 is too pricey, this may work just fine.. These pictures actually tell us a lot. It's most likely the 3.6 DI V6 from Cadillac. Secondly, those will be the V6 wheels. (No surprise there), and third, the scoop on the V6 is very fake.

That looks like a DOHC motor, does anyone else agree? Take a close look at the front of the valve covers... and then specifically at the coils placed in the middle of the valve cover.
Edit: The lower half of the engine looks identical to the DOHC V6 in my old ford taurus.

The V6 going into the Camaro is most likely going to be the LLT version. 3.6L, direct injection, 302 hp, 272 lb-ft. This engine family is also going to be one half of the V12 that GM is rumored to be working on for the flagship Cadillac on the way.
Another thing to think about is that the Saab 9-3 has a version of this engine with a turbo. Maybe you can buy a relatively cheap turbo straight from GM to hook up to it? Or possibly a turbo version in the future?
I would bet money that Ford is going to have to up the performance of their Mustang GTs though because the future V6 Camaro should give it a run for it's money the way it looks now.

The ford mustang is getting a face lift for the 09 model year i believe...the GT is going to be a 5.0 motor producing around 400hp.....and im sure they will up the V6 as well.

You know, I was comparing the G8 v6 to the one in that Camaro...
It doesn't have the same intake manifold...
If you look, there is a bolted-plate in the middle of the runners on the Camaro, whereas the G8's just kind of do the normal thing. That wouldn't be a variable-geometry intake manifold would it? Why else would there be a box like that in the middle of the runners?
